While fans enjoy watching couples fall in love and navigate their relationships in the social experiment, a big part of what makes Married At First Sight so popular is its cheating scandals. Ever since season five in 2018 with Davina Rankin and Dean Wells, the reality show has featured at least one storyline where two cast members go behind their partners' backs every year.

It appears this year’s season is no different, with two participants set to find themselves in a cheating scandal that will tear both of their relationships apart. According to Daily Mail, Sierah Swepstone and Adrian Araouzou formed an “unexpected bond” after a night out during their first weekend in Sydney and “stayed up late getting to know each other”.

Their close bond eventuated in an “alleged indiscretion at a dinner party” which left their respective partners Billy Belcher and Awhina Rutene feeling “humiliated” and “betrayed”.

The publication also reports that Sierah and Adrian had an “intimate dinner date” a few days later behind their partner’s backs, and Billy felt “completely blindsided” when the truth eventually emerged.

An insider tells Yahoo Lifestyle that while Adrian and Sierah maintain nothing inappropriate happened between them, she is later accused of trying to continually pursue him after their initial flirtation.

“The most devastating thing for Billy was the fact Sierah was the first girl he's ever opened up to about his family and father leaving,” they add. “It's hard for him to be that vulnerable but he really wanted to let all his walls down and give their marriage everything.”

During an interview with Yahoo Lifestyle this week, Adrian remained tight-lipped when asked about the rumoured cheating scandal.

“I mean, I guess you will have to wait and see. It might be another clickbait post, but we’ll see,” he said. “We’ll see how it all plays out.”

He did, however, tease that this year’s season is going to be “crazy” and nothing like viewers have ever seen before.

“If you thought there was a lot of drama in the first few episodes, that’s honestly one-tenth of what happens in this season,” he said. “This is probably going to be the most extra season of MAFS, I reckon. From my experience, this is the biggest season. When you think there's gonna be no storyline, there's always a better one.”

Meanwhile, Billy also told Yahoo Lifestyle last week that viewers should expect plenty more drama to unfold.

“What can I say about the season going forward? We get rid of the ratbags and we then become even closer as a group, we’re really tight-knit. And then as the season unfolds, we start to get more of a divide,” he teases.

“You’re gonna see some drama. All I keep saying is, make sure you've got your popcorn out and make sure you've been to the toilet because you won't want to get off your seat.”
