MAFS' Billy reacts to 'uncanny' resemblance to Baby Reindeer's Richard Gadd

We’re only a few episodes into this year’s season of Married At First Sight and viewers have already determined that one participant has an “uncanny” celebrity lookalike. Billy Belcher, a 31-year-old plasterer from Western Australia, tied the knot with former Bachelor contestant Sierah Swepstone during Wednesday night’s episode.

While many fans took to social media to say the English-born groom was an immediate fan favourite thanks to his larrikin behaviour, others couldn’t help but point out how similar he looks to Richard Gadd. Richard is a Scottish actor, comedian and writer best known for creating and starring in the 2024 Netflix series Baby Reindeer.

“Damn I saw a comment on TikTok saying he looks like the guy from Baby Reindeer. Cannot unsee it now,” one person wrote, while another added, “He’s giving Richard Gadd vibes”.

“Omg he looks so much like that fella off Baby Reindeer!” a third shared, followed by someone else who said, “First thing that came to my mind too!”.

“I was hoping I was not the only one,” a different user remarked, with another writing, “Oh my goodness yes identical”.

Billy reacts to 'uncanny' comparison

Speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle about the comparison, Billy admits he wasn’t surprised people thought he looked like Richard Gadd as he had heard it “quite a few times” before going on MAFS.

“When we had a [media] day with Channel Nine, they asked us, ‘Who’s your celebrity lookalike?’. And I was like, I don't know, but I had a bit of a joke with it and I said, ‘Well, people have said I look like the guy from Baby Reindeer’,” he says.

“So I let that out and now everyone’s talking about. It doesn't phase me at all, you could be called worse things. I can't see the comparison myself, but it’s actually quite funny.”

Bride's mum looks like major celeb

Billy isn’t the only person on this year’s season of MAFS who has a celebrity doppelgänger, with many viewers saying Carina Mirabile’s mum looks like Kris Kenner thanks to their similar hairstyles.

“She looks like Kim Kardashian and the mum looks like Kris,” one person wrote, followed by another who said, “I was legit thinking the same thing”.

“I thought the same, Kris Jenner & Kim Kardashian!” someone else remarked, while a different user replied, “She's a classy lady though, unlike Kris Jenner”.
