MAFS grooms reveal what Tim and Eliot were really like during filming: 'Not okay'
EXCLUSIVE: Adrian Araouzou and Billy Belcher weigh in on their co-stars’ ‘edit’.
Let’s face it, Married At First Sight wouldn’t be nearly as entertaining if it didn’t feature a handful of participants acting controversial on national TV. From Harrison Boon to Jack Dunkley, viewers simply love to hate a reality TV ‘villain’.
This year’s season of MAFS is certainly no different, with Eliot Donovan and Tim Gromie each sending fans wild with how they treated their wives at their wedding and honeymoon. Ahead of the inaugural dinner party where the pair’s outrageous behaviour will no doubt be on show, Yahoo Lifestyle spoke with two of their co-stars about what they were really like during filming.

Adrian Araouzou, who is paired with Awhina Rutene in the experiment, tells Yahoo Lifestyle he was shocked to see Tim reject his bride Katie Johnson after meeting him at the bachelor’s party.
“I think Tim at the bucks’ night was a nice guy, he didn't show that side of him. So I was a bit surprised when I watched his wedding, I didn't expect that. You can't say one thing and then say another thing, which one is it? It was confusing,” he shares.
'Doesn't surprise me'
Adrian went on to say that he has more respect for Eliot than Tim because “he stuck to what he said” by quitting the experiment.
“Tim said ‘I’ve got no standards but I want a short petite blonde’, whereas Eliot was like, ‘This is my standard, I don't want to accept anything less’,” he remarks.
“Everyone's entitled to have standards, but it's the way you go about it. He could have explained himself a lot better, I think, and I believe Eliot should’ve stuck it out to see why they matched him. He shouldn’t have been so quick to jump and say ‘See you later’, but it doesn't surprise me.”
Billy shares his thoughts on Eliot: 'Not okay'
Meanwhile, fellow groom Billy Belcher tells Yahoo Lifestyle that the bucks’ night “wasn't as tame as what was shown” and he had a lot more to say to Eliot after he shared his views on women.
“Watching his wedding, I wasn't surprised one bit. I said in my voxie at the bucks’ party that this guy is not okay,” he recalls.
“He's not coming in 100 per cent and he's got all these non-negotiables and honestly, I knew it wasn't going to work. So the fact that I saw the wedding and the honeymoon and how it's unfolding, I'm not surprised one bit.”

Billy went on to say that the group dynamic this season becomes “very strong” once certain people leave the experiment.
“What can I say about the season going forward? We get rid of the ratbags and we then become even closer as a group, we’re really tight-knit. And then as the season unfolds, we start to get more of a divide,” he teases.
“You’re gonna see some drama. All I keep saying is, make sure you've got your popcorn out and make sure you've been to the toilet because you won't want to get off your seat.”
