A Married At First Sight first is set to happen this week as Eliot Donovan abruptly dumps new bride Lauren Hall on their honeymoon and quits the show after 48 hours.

Although viewers watched the “blunt, straight-shooter” warm to his new wife during their wedding day on Monday night and leave the ceremony hand-in-hand, the promo for Tuesday’s episode teased his “dramatic change of heart” as he suddenly leaves.

“There's definitely things on my non-negotiables. I wanted someone who is younger than me, someone under 30, there's some superficiality, there's some fake luxury luggage. There's just somethings that I know I'm not willing to compromise on,” Eliot is seen ranting in the explosive advert.

As viewers now wonder why he changed his mind so quickly, Yahoo Lifestyle can reveal that several off-camera things happened in the hours between the ceremony ending and the pair waking up the following morning.

Firstly, as Eliot left the ceremony to ride the limo back to the couples’ hotel, creator of MAFS Funny page Joshua Fox crashed their exit and revealed a secret about his bride that producers had planned to bring up later in the season.

In footage shared to social media in July, Joshua is seen telling Eliot that Lauren is the ex-girlfriend of Jonathan McCullough, who appeared on season 10 of the show.

Although Eliot didn’t respond, he didn’t look particularly happy by the news and as he processed it, it’s believed he started to feel he was being “stitched up” by producers in some way.

A show source said: “The wedding day was a whirlwind and Eliot got caught up in the magic of it all while constantly being prodded by producers to say romantic things about his new wife. As filming eventually wrapped after 14 hours, it was the first chance he had to take a minute to breathe and think.

"The prankster then shouting about Lauren being Jono’s ex-girlfriend made him start to think he was being stitched up and she was just on the show as revenge or to win him back or something. The more he then thought, the more he realised how Lauren wasn’t anything like the type of bride he’d asked for and again just thought he was being set up.”
