MAFS EXCLUSIVE: Ben makes shock claim about Ellie 'drama' cut from the show

The Married At First Sight star claims his 'wife' was a "cold-hearted woman" throughout the show.

MAFS star Ben Walters has made the shocking claim that his ex-'wife' Ellie Dix was a “cold-hearted woman” from the very start of the season, but producers cut out her initial controversies to get viewers rooting for her—only to then “show the real her” during the reunion when she walked in with Jono McCullough for maximum impact.

Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, the tour guide has claimed that Ellie told him during the Honesty Box task on their honeymoon that she had broken up with a boyfriend just before filming started so she could take part in the social experiment.

“The difference between Ellie at the beginning of the season and at the final dinner party highlights the clever editing by producers and its power to influence perception. They left out scenes where I discovered she broke up with her boyfriend to be on MAFS, even though Jack copped it for the same thing all season,” Ben said on Monday.

“The editing made her seem like a hero throughout, then shifted to a cold hearted woman when it mattered the most. If they showed everything, viewers would have seen Ellie’s faults from the start alongside mine. In the end, negativity attracts negativity making Ellie and Jono a match made in clout chasing heaven.”

Ellie's best friend of 18 years, Tahli, has since refuted Ben's comments, claiming Ellie never tried to hide the fact that she was seeing someone prior to the show.

Tahli told Yahoo Lifestyle: “Ellie wrote in her confession letter to Ben that she was briefly seeing someone before the show, she was not hiding this. This isn’t a secret or ‘scandal’. It simply wasn’t aired, like many other things. Ellie was genuine throughout the entirety of the experiment and stayed true to herself and her values the whole time, which is why she left in week 5.

“Ben on the other hand appears to be clinging to this life raft, riding the negativity and hate aimed at Ellie, attempting yet again to boost his poor character up, after he was left with little to no airtime through the experiment and that which he did receive was quite poor in taste, not dissimilar to his actual character which Ellie experienced.”

'The most edited episode'

Fans were shocked to see Ellie and Jono's apparent behaviour when they walked into the reunion together, however, an anonymous participant revealed to Yahoo Lifestyle on Monday that what did air on TV was almost entirely taken out of context.

“The reunion was by far the most edited episode I’ve seen,” the insider shares. “Every other episode I think has been fairly accurate but that was extremely out of context.”

One of the most dramatic moments from the episode was when Ellie was shown snapping at Lauren and calling her a “f**king b***h”. The source tells us that the comment was actually made towards Sara after she suggested Ellie was only with Jono to boost her profile, but was edited to make Ellie look even worse.

“Sara was saying things to Ellie like, ‘You’re only with Jono for the limelight, you’ve always wanted the limelight’. That’s why Ellie snapped and said, ‘I left the experiment in week five’ - to make a point that she wasn’t on the show for fame,” the source adds.

“There’s only so far you can push someone before they snap. Ellie is one of the nicest girls in the cast and she doesn’t deserve to be receiving so much hate - but the comment definitely shouldn't have been said, regardless of who she said it to.”
