Christian Bale unveils shock transformation for new film: 'Finally'

The star is known for his incredible transformations for his roles.

Christian Bale is known for his impressive ability to totally transform his body for a role – the star has lost and gained a crazy amount of weight in the past, going from around 54kg all the way up to 94kg for different roles.

Now, the actor, 50, has transformed once again to play Frankenstein's monster in The Bride, directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, who shared a few photos from a recent camera test. Jessie Buckley will play the bride in the period film, which also stars Penelope Cruz, Peter Sarsgaard, and Annette Bening.

"Meet The Bride & Frank 🖤," Maggie captioned the snaps.

Christian is seen looking unrecognisable in the snap, with the star seen with huge stitches on his forehead and chest, as well as facial prosthetics and a large fake tattoo across his chest that reads 'Hope'.

"This looks punk rock!!! Amazing, so excited!" one Instagram user wrote.

"BALE! Finally some more Bale," another added.

"I’m so F***ING EXCITED!" a third wrote, while someone else added, "What can’t Christian Bale play?!"

The movie is set in 1930s Chicago and puts a bit of a spin on the iconic Frankenstein story.

"Buckley’s murdered young woman is revived, but her new life surprises her creators as she lusts for romance and ignites a radical social movement," Variety reveals.

Christian and Maggie will reunite for the film after having worked together in The Dark Knight in 2008.

It's believed production will start soon, with Christian recently mentioning he was going bald for the role at a groundbreaking event for California foster homes.

"I've got to shave my head next week for a movie," he said, seemingly reluctant. "I asked them to please let me hold off on doing that but everyone was going, 'What’s wrong with Bale? What’s up with him?'"

"I said, 'Just let me get through the groundbreaking and then I’ll be off to join you,'" the star added, saying he would be starting preparations for the film soon.
