The Bachelor Australia success stories: Where are they now?
The Bachelor offers a chance to see couples find their fairytale ending and for a number of loved-up couples on the series, that's exactly what they got. It also gives viewers a chance to believe in love too!
From the start of the show in Australia, Tim Robards, the first Bachelor back in 2013, showed us that love at first sight could be very real. However, it's not been smooth sailing for all the Bachelors and Bachelorettes on the show.
The series' stars have been rocked by a number of scandals and even for those who weren't, as with life, there are no guarantees when it comes to love.
Before we start watching the latest series of The Bachelor with pilot Jimmy Nicholson, let's take a loving look back at those who found true love on the show. Altogether now - Awwwwww!

Tim Robards and Anna Heinrich
It was the very first season of The Bachelor in Australia and everyone had high hopes that chiropractor Tim Robards would find his perfect match. But it almost didn't happen as his now wife Anna Heinrich admits she almost pulled out of the show at the last minute.
"My mum dropped me off — and I rang her and was like, 'Oh my god Mum, I can't do this, they're all models, I'm so out of my league'," Anna told PopSugar.
Luckily the criminal lawyer was talked into seeing it through by her girlfriends.
Despite never having had a serious boyfriend before, Anna bewitched Tim and she was able to win his heart and the competition saying: "This will be the first boyfriend and the last!"
Blissfully dating since the show's finale, Tim popped the question after four years while on holiday in Broome, WA.
"In a little dinghy ...floating on a secluded river ... I asked this amazing woman to marry me ... she said YES!!! woohoo!! #ENGAGED" Tim declared on his Insta account at the time.
Their June 2018 wedding was an instagram influencers dream, taking place at the Masseria Potenti hotel in the Puglian countryside in Italy but just months later the couple faced rumours they'd split up.
With Tim joining the cast of Neighbours in Melbourne and Anna still based in Sydney, Anna was quick to quash rumours about their long-distance relationship.
"When you’re confident in your relationship it doesn’t matter what people say," she told The Morning Show's Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies. "Tim and I, we’re like better than ever."
In August last year, Tim decided to quit his role on Neighbours during the coronavirus pandemic.
“I made the gut-wrenching decision to depart Neighbours early as my responsibilities as a husband and father have to take precedence,’’ Tim said in a statement.
“If I’ve learnt anything in this pandemic it’s that the health and wellbeing of my family has to come first.”
So it was unsurprising when in 2020, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together. Daughter Elle was born in November last year and the new parents are already both filling their social media accounts with gorgeous pictures of their perfect little family,
Sam Wood and Snezana Markoski
During the third season of The Bachelor it didn't take long for viewers to pick the front runner for personal trainer Sam Wood's heart. Despite Snezana Markoski living on the other side of the country to Sam, that didn't stop them from falling in love and planning a future together.
After Snez was announced as the winner, Sam wasted no time gushing about his new love. "I definitely know one day that I'm going to marry this woman," Sam told Woman's Day.
To become a family, Snez and her daughter Eve relocated from Perth to Melbourne and just six months after meeting, Sam asked Snez to marry him, saying: "when you know, you know".
However, before they got to say their 'I do's' the couple welcomed Australia's first Bachelor baby, a daughter Willow, in October 2017. "She’s pretty damn perfect." Snez revealed.
Their glamorous yet intimate wedding took place in the celebrity hideaway of Byron Bay the following year and just three months later, they announced that they were expecting their second child.
Daughter Charlie was born in July 2019 and Sam was ecstatic about his new edition, despite being outnumbered by girls now at home. "We're going okay - they're keeping me in touch with my feminine side," Sam said jokingly on The Morning Show.
And even though he has spent much of the pandemic locked in with the wonderful girls in his life, Sam is nothing but thankful for the life he has. "When I have you, I have it all," Sam gushed on his Instagram for his birthday in May.
Georgia Love and Lee Elliott
It was journalist Georgia Love who was in control when she became Australia's second Bachelorette, being wooed by 18 men to see who could win her heart.
But her choice of men wasn't initially popular with the viewers. Fans of the show were hoping she'd choose marketing manager Matty J and when she dumped him in favour of Lee, she was unprepared for the backlash.
"The thing I think was the hardest for me and Lee watching it was it felt like it played out less as our love story and more as Matty J's heartbreak story," she explained on the Jeans and a Nice Top podcast.
"I adored Matty - he and I were like the best of friends and if we'd met in any other situation we'd probably still be really good friends to this day but we met in this weird situation where we're put in these romantic scenarios and we didn't fall in love," she added.
Further tragedy struck for Georgia just 24 hours after the show ended with her beloved mother Belinda Love passing away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. However through it all, Lee was there to support her.
"I quite honestly don't know how I would have got through the last two years without him," she explained to E! News. "But that was why I went on the show. I wanted someone to be able to support me. I wanted to have someone in my life and thank goodness I found that because the last years have thrown more at me than I could have imagined or expected."
Three years after meeting, Lee proposed to Georgia on a romantic boating trip on the Hawkesbury saying: "So if you're not busy for the next 50 or 60 years..."
But planning their wedding came with complications. They originally intended to wed in Italy but the global pandemic forced them to adapt. They finally tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony on a vineyard in Tasmania in March this year.
Matty Johnson and Laura Byrne
He may have missed out on a chance with Georgia Love but they say that everything happens for a reason and it seems that reason was so that Matty Johnson could find true love the following year with The Bachelor contestant Laura Byrne.
It probably also gave Matty a better understanding of what Georgia went through as he admits that he knew his heart belonged to jewellery designer Laura pretty early on.
"The chemistry Laura and I have, it hits me every time we're together," he confessed to NW. "When I'm with her it feels so natural and I never want our dates to end. I knew she could be right for me the day after our first date – I simply couldn't fault it."
In December the following year, the couple discovered they were expecting their first child together, excitedly taking to social media to announce the news.
"I'm so bad at keeping secrets so I'm EXTREMELY excited to let everyone know, we are having a little baby! @ladyandacat I love you more than words can describe and I can't wait to start our family together. WE ARE GOING TO BE PARENTS!!," wrote Matty at the time.
But Matty didn't want to wait til their baby was born to make them family so proposed to his pregnant girlfriend while on holiday in Fiji in April 2019.
"There’s absolutely no one else I’d rather grow old and senile with. I can’t wait to start a family together and now I can’t wait to be your husband!" he once again said on Instagram.
Daughter Marlie-Mae was born just two months later. Since then the couple has also welcomed a second daughter, Lola Ellis in February this year and hope they now they can start to plan their wedding.
"We've just got ourselves a wonderful wedding planner @kashayaco because we have zero time... but we are getting married at the end of this year," Laura finally confirmed on her socials in March. Fingers crossed guys!
Locky Gilbert and Irena Srbinovska
Locky and Irena didn't seem to get off to the best of starts when Locky told the two Bachelor finalists that he loved them both. However, he did choose Irena and the couple seem to have been going from strength to strength ever since.
It was only a year ago, on July 18, that Locky finally let Irena know that she was the one he wanted to be with, presenting her with the final rose on The Bachelor 2020 finale.
With the pandemic still hampering travel and work, the couple have made the most of their time together, travelling around Australia.
"We have spoken about getting engaged, pretty much planned our next 5 years already and we would love to have some babies," Irena said on Instagram.
"Ideally we would love 2 kids...hoping for twins. Locky is super easy to talk to about marriage and babies, he is just as excited about our future as I am." Only time will tell if these guys can last the distance.
