We’re only two weeks into this year’s season of The Block and Courtney and Grant have already proven themselves to be one of the most consistent teams in the competition. The Sydney-based married couple has received enormous praise from the judges after implementing their unique ‘Moditerranean’ (modern Mediterranean) style in each of their rooms.

After finishing in second place to Kristian and Mimi by just half a point for their bathroom last week, Courtney and Grant hoped their guest bedroom could take out the win. However, they ended up coming second to Kristian and Mimi by half a point once again after the judges criticised a very minor detail in their room during Sunday night’s episode.

While Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Marty Fox said they loved the Red Team’s children’s room, remarking that it looks “cute as heck” and “delivers personality in spades” with its striped feature wall and inverse bedhead, they each agreed that they pair had made a glaring error.

The trio argued that kids would stub their toe on the doorstop and hurt themselves because of its odd position in front of the wardrobe.

“One tiny little tiny, tiny, tiny little detail. That’s something you kick your foot on and break your toe on, right?” Darren remarked, to which Shaynna and Marty both replied, “Absolutely”.

“These work just as well if they’re right back there,” Darren continued, pointing to a spot on the floor closer to the door hinge.

Courtney and Grant were also criticised for not having a ceiling fan in their room and ended up receiving a total score of 27.5 out of 30.

Viewers weren’t too pleased with the judges' feedback and took to social media to say that Courtney and Grant were “absolutely robbed”.

“Best bedroom by far. So much character. You definitely deserved to win this week,” one person wrote, while another added, “Love the room Courtney and Grant. So unlucky not to win”.

“I think House 2 is the best, I feel so sorry for them,” a third replied, followed by someone else who said, “The styling is so perfect. Love the stripes and green. So clever and original”.

“Adorable kids room! Winner for me this week! Well done Courtney and Grant!” a different user remarked.

However, several fans agreed that they made a mistake when choosing where to put the door stopper and it’s something all teams should consider moving forward.

“Why would you put a doorstopper in front of the wardrobes, l just can't believe someone would do that... just stupid,” one viewer commented.

“Definitely not my cup of tea, the right room won in my opinion,” another agreed.
