MAFS week four recap: The good, the bad and the ugly

The Married At First Sight intruders have arrived.

👍 The Good: Claire apologises to Jesse

👎 The Bad: Intruder honeymoon blows up

😢 The Ugly: Janelle drops a major bombshell

We’ve officially reached the halfway point on this year’s season of Married At First Sight, but the drama has shown no signs of slowing down.

As well as two intruder couples entering the experiment, this week saw Adam Seed and Claire Nomarhas’ cheating scandal unfold and completely shake up the cast dynamic.

Claire and Jesse’s dinner party apology

After Claire came clean to her husband Jesse Burford at Tayla Winter and Hugo Armstrong’s wedding, it seemed like that was the end of their relationship. Jesse refused to listen to Claire’s apologies and they consequently avoided each other for the rest of the week.

However, things appeared to change at the dinner party when Claire pulled him aside and handed him an apology letter.

“You don’t have to talk if you don’t have to talk, but I just wrote some things down,” she said. “I hope you can know that I genuinely am really f**king sorry for hurting you… I came here a flawed person and I came here to learn and you’ve taught me a lot about myself as well and I want to thank you for that. I have a lot of respect for you.”

The pair ended up laughing together and decided to leave the dinner party early, with Claire telling producers she felt like it was a “massive relief” being able to talk to Jesse again.

MORE GOOD:

Tayla and Hugo’s honeymoon fight

They had a rocky start to their relationship at their wedding when their vows didn't align, and things between Tayla and Hugo didn’t seem to improve on their honeymoon.

The Tasmanian bride criticised her husband for being “the opposite” of what she had asked for - a “rowdy” tradie or footballer who she described as “a man’s man”.

“The part that I have a problem with is I feel like you looked at me and said, ‘He’s not a blokey tradie, he’s not my type, and you’ve been a b**ch to me the entire time,” Hugo told her. “I definitely feel like no part of you wants to work on it.”

“Shut up,” she cut him off. “You like the sound of your own voice too much and it actually annoys me.”

This came after Tayla told Hugo that he wasn’t allowed to share the bed with her for the entirety of the experiment and forced him to sleep on the couch.

MORE BAD:

Janelle drops dinner party bombshell

There’s no denying that Janelle Han walked into the dinner party with the sole intention of holding her husband Adam accountable for his actions. Sitting at the table with the group’s focus entirely on her, Janelle dropped a major bombshell that disputed Adam’s claim they were in a “bad place” when he kissed Claire.

“I kissed him goodbye before he left, and he had sex with me that night,” she revealed through tears. “If we were in a bad place I was unaware.”

Following the dinner party, Janelle spoke openly with Yahoo Lifestyle about the cheating scandal and revealed what she was really doing the night Adam and Claire hooked up.

“It wasn't explained actually,” she said. “So what happened was, we weren’t allowed to go out with any other cast members, and I'm a bit of a rule follower.

“So Adam was actually initially just having a drink with Duncan [James], but then he got a message from other cast members being like, ‘We’re at this bar, come!’. And throughout the night Adam was messaging me saying, ‘I'm just gonna have a quick drink with the people, I'll be back soon’. He wasn’t back soon, he was out until curfew.

“I never really got the invite to that night out, I just always assumed Adam was going to be home soon. I was just playing my Nintendo Switch!”
