Isla Fisher shares poignant post thanking 'supportive' friends after divorce

Isla Fisher arguably had one of the most tumultuous years of her life in 2024. In addition to working on five films, the most she’s ever been a part of in one year, the Australian actress announced in April that she and her husband Sacha Baron Cohen had separated after 13 years of marriage.

The pair, who share three children, first met in 2001 and became engaged in 2004. They shared a bizarre tennis-themed post on Instagram revealing they had jointly filed to end their marriage at the end of 2023 and had been “quietly working through this change”.

Isla has since reflected on her wild year and took to Instagram this week to share a poignant post, telling her followers that she’s ending 2024 with “gratitude”.

“For my family and old friends who have supported and loved me, to the new friends who have opened their hearts and homes to me and may children and to those who kept shooting me texts to check in. I love you all and I wish you the happiest 2025,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself smiling outdoors.

'Only the brave survive'

Isla’s fans quickly took to the comments to share their well wishes, with one person writing: “Cheers to your next year being full of happiness!”

“You are loved ❤️ looking forward to seeing all the great things that happen for you in 2025!” Another added, while a third said, “Love to you Isla sending a big hug to you and happy new year. Onward”.

“Only the brave survive and you are loved. That’s all that matters, happy new year Isla,” someone else shared, followed by a different user who replied, “Hope 2025 is a much better one for you and your children”.

Isla ended 2024 spending time with her close friend and former Home and Away co-star Kate Ritchie in London. Isla played Shannon Reed on the soap from 1994 to 1997 while Kate played Sally Fletcher from 1988 to 2008, with a brief reappearance in 2013.

Isla shared a photo of the pair on her Instagram Story last week alongside the caption “cozy London reunion”. Kate then reshared the post, writing: “The most wonderful time of the year is true this year #girlstrip.”
