Isla Fisher shares heartbreak after loss of her father: 'My best friend'

The former Home and Away star described her dad as 'hilarious, positive and my best friend'.

Aussie star Isla Fisher has shared a heartbreaking tribute to her beloved late father, Brian, who she describes as her "best friend". The former Home and Away star took to Instagram on Sunday to share the news of Brian's passing with two photos of herself and her dad.

"How do you live without someone that you can’t live without?" Isla began. "How lucky am I to have had you as my dad. You were hilarious, positive and my best friend. No matter what was going in my life on you always asked me if I was having fun.

"I know this pain is going to get worse as the days between when I last saw you increase and that is very scary. I love you so much. Thank you for being the greatest father."

The star's famous friends shared their condolences on the post, with Reese Witherspoon writing, "Oh friend. I'm so so sorry. I know how much you left your daddy. Sending you all my angels."

Fellow Aussie Naomi Watts wrote, "So sorry isla. This is heartbreaking news. I know how close you were. Sending big love."

Jillian Bell shared, "Oh Isla, I’m so sorry, I’m sending you a big hug right now. I know this pain well and I’m sorry you have to go through this."

"There's truly no pain like it, and it will feel like you can't survive it," one follower wrote. "But you can and you will. You will learn to live around the hole in your heart. But for now, just do what you need to. There is no right or wrong way to grieve and there are no right or wrong ways to feel... Forgive yourself and allow yourself time."

"Big condolences. Losing a parent hurts bad," another said. "Let the grief wash over you and just cry and cry. Your dad is always around you. How incredibly blessed to have had a dad like yours."

Isla often shared photos of herself and her father, calling him "the sweetest dad".

In another post she wrote, "I love him, he's the greatest and I am so thankful to have him in my life."
