The former Disney child actor met Holland in 2016 on set of Spider-Man: Homecoming, playing the Marvel superhero's love interest MJ in the first of three Spider-Man movies so far. They began dating sometime in 2021.
The stars are notoriously private about their relationship and rarely walk red carpet events together. “One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn’t really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world,” Holland said of the public nature of the relationship in conversation with GQ in 2021.
“I’ve always been really adamant to keep my private life private, because I share so much of my life with the world anyway,” added the actor. “We sort of felt robbed of our privacy.”
“Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public,” said Zendaya of the same subject matter in conversation with Elle in 2023. “I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. But also, I do have control over what I choose to share. It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist. You can’t hide. That’s not fun, either. I am navigating it more than ever now.”
The forthcoming nuptials will be the first marriage for both actors.
Zendaya and Holland are also slated to reunite on the big screen in Christopher Nolan's adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey, arriving in theaters July 17, 2026. Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron are also attached.
