Yahoo Lifestyle Zendaya Had "No Idea" Tom Holland Planned to Propose and Was Completely Surprised
Tom Holland and Zendaya are engaged! News which was officially confirmed yesterday (January 6) after Zendaya walked the Golden Globes red carpet wearing a shiny diamond on her left finger. Which, side note, reportedly set Tom Holland back six figures.
Obviously we require allll the details, and according to Page Six, Zendaya was fully surprised by Tom's proposal. “Tom and Zendaya had discussed marriage over the years, but Zendaya had no idea he was planning to propose,” a source said. “They both value their privacy, so the proposal was something Tom wanted to keep private as well.”
Apparently, “Tom and Zendaya’s families are ecstatic" and "Zendaya’s mom and sisters can’t wait to start planning with her,” but “there is no wedding date or plans set yet. It’s far too soon to start thinking about any of that yet. They’re still celebrating the exciting news.
Meanwhile, TMZ reports that Tom asked Zendaya's dad, Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, permission "months ago," which was an "important step for Tom" since "he's very traditional and felt it was important to secure Kazembe's blessing first."
Reminder: these two started dating in 2016. As a source put it to People in early 2017, “They started seeing each other while they were filming Spider-Man. They’ve been super careful to keep it private and out of the public eye but they’ve gone on vacations with each other and try and spend as much time as possible with one another.”
