Comedian Ricky Gervais didn't host the 2025 Golden Globes ceremony on stage — instead, he hosted a mini opening monologue live from his bathtub.

The English performer, who previously hosted the Golden Globes five times, shared a thread over the weekend on X revealing the jokes he would've made if he'd returned to emcee Sunday evening's ceremony over fellow comedian Nikki Glaser.

"Sat in the bath wondering about what I would say if I were hosting The Golden Globes on Sunday. It’s been a pretty good year for material," the 63-year-old shared, before posting a rough version of his opening monologue.

"Hello, and welcome to the 82nd Golden Globe awards. What a year it's been. Hundreds of entertainers jumped at the chance to go to The Vatican to meet The Pope. Many from Hollywood. Obviously they weren't content with only being part of the 2nd biggest pedo ring in the world," he joked about a June 2024 gathering of comedians and entertainment figures who traveled to the Vatican to meet Pope Francis. Gervais then shifted focus to pop star Justin Timberlake and the performer's DWI arrest over the summer: "If he’d have gone to jail he’d have heard the words 'Sexy Back' a lot more often."

Finally, he quipped, "Kevin Hart said that being at one of Diddy’s parties was uncomfortable, as he wouldn’t leave him alone. Eventually he had to shout 'Imma Midget, not a child,'" Gervais wrote of the short-statured comedian, also referencing Diddy's ongoing legal troubles, including allegations that Sean "Diddy" Combs hosted gatherings that allegedly involved sex workers and/or sexual assaults (Combs has denied all allegations of sexual assault), as reported by Cassie Ventura in her now-settled lawsuit. (EW has reached out to a representative for Hart for comment.)

Gervais' jokes came days before Glaser took the stage at the telecast to deliver a well-received opening monologue, during which she described the ceremony's waitstaff “the hardest working actors in show business,” claimed to have seen more peacocks than shows on NBC's Peacock streaming service, and jabbed Adam Sandler by mimicking how she thinks he'd pronounce the name “Timothée Chalamet" — which, sitting in the audience, Sandler demonstrated after the joke.
