The Block's Paige finally addresses speculation she quits the show: 'Come on'

After Yahoo Lifestyle revealed in April that the Blue Team's Jesse and Paige exit the show early, leaving producers scrambling to find a replacement, the couple themselves hadn't addressed it. A production insider told Yahoo Lifestyle last week that Jesse and Paige leave the reality show on their own accord in week five, and the reason behind their decision will have audiences asking themselves what they would do in their position.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday night, Paige finally answered questions about it in a Q&A. She first referenced their exit after sharing a screenshot from a Facebook group that read: "The real reason that Jesse/Paige leave is because they wanted to go to Europe and Cyprus for his 30th birthday. The show fell for it."

Did they leave The Block to go on holiday?

One viewer pointed out that the photos the couple is sharing on Instagram now aren't from when the show was filmed, "They are on holidays in the Mediterranean with friends now. Well Paige was posting on Instagram a few days ago. Filming finished months ago so I don't think that staying on the show would have effected the dates they wanted to travel. Omar and Oz headed to Bali during the show airing so I don't think they are unable to travel when the filming has finished."

Paige jokingly commented, "We were not prepared to give up our Euro Summer."

"Did you guys actually leave? Such a bummer, we love your vibe," another Instagram follower asked.

"You have to keep watching the show!" Paige responded. "But thank you girl, I'm glad you can pick up what we're putting down."

"Why did you guys leave The Block!?! You were so cute," someone else asked.

"I think you may be the only person to refer to our narrative right now as cute," Paige said. "But we're young and very much in love so we do have many cute moments, you just don't get to see them on the TV for the sake of our narrative – so I'll take it!"

"Do you think the show's edits are accurate or portrayed you guys differently?" one Instagram user asked, with Paige simply replying, "Editing is a wild, wild thing."

"Do you really leave The Block to go to Cyprus!?" another asked.

"I would've done anything to go see this one," Paige said, sharing a snap of herself and a friend. "But leave The Block to go on holiday... come on."

Why did Jesse and Paige quit The Block?

“Jesse and Paige asked themselves a real question: Is the chance of making money worth risking their relationship?” an insider told Yahoo Lifestyle. “Channel Nine gave them the go-ahead to leave the show after some heated exchanges on their hot microphones. It was a really tough decision, but both Jesse and Paige believe Australia will embrace their decision positively.”

Our insider adds that viewers will see their relationship put to the test in the first five weeks of the season, and things become “pretty toxic”.

“They make the right decision, but the jury is out on how Australia will feel with their overall time on the show being quite polarising,” they continue.

'Reasons for leaving are remarkable'

This comes after The Block’s executive producer Julian Cress, who co-created the series in 2003 alongside David Barbour, confirmed that one team quit this season and viewers will be surprised by their reasoning.

“I’m not saying these people left because they were lazy,” he told TV Tonight. “They wanted to do it, but it just became enormously challenging at some point and their reasons for leaving are pretty remarkable. I think it will start a very interesting conversation amongst the audience.”
