They were arguably the most entertaining people on last year’s season of The Block after stirring the pot with their co-stars and sharing wild ‘conspiracy theories’ about production, and now Kristy and Brett Beames have revealed their honest thoughts on the current season. The Adelaide-based couple have launched a new series on social media discussing The Block 2024 and admitted in a recent episode that they’re finding the renovation reality show “boring”.

“If I’m honest, I’m bored s**tless and I’m struggling at the minute,” Kristy remarked in the clip. “Bring back the drama, I say.”

The couple also predicted that House 2’s Courtney and Grant would make the most money at auction - with Brett joking that they should bet their $65,000 prize money on the Sydney couple taking out the win - and entrepreneur/serial Block buyer Adrian Portelli will purchase all five of the houses.

Speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle about the current season, the 2023 ‘villains’ believe there’s a major reason why viewers might not be as interested in this year’s cast.

“Most of the contestants seem concerned about how they’ll be perceived on TV, so we’ve got a bunch of people trying to be something they’re not,” Kristy shares. “It’ll become exhausting, so we hope it changes in a few weeks.

“It was an opportunity for The Block to double down on a really successful ratings season, yet they’ve dropped the ball casting personalities like this and the numbers are showing, coming off second best whenever The Voice is on.”

While Perth-based couple Paige and Jesse have been named this season’s ‘villains’ on social media thanks to their constant bickering, Kristy believes “the real villains” on the show are “in disguise”.

“The way Grant spoke to his builder saying, ‘If you think you’re smarter than me, that’s the problem’, really showed his true colours,” she says. “The production team must be working overtime to cover that up, given that’s their new cash cow with their Japa - sorry, Moderterranean styling.”

Grant left viewers outraged this week when he made the surprising decision to fire his builders after learning that they had been complaining to Foreman Dan and McCafé barista Tina about not being paid. The landscape business development manager was furious that the tradies had gone “behind his back” - especially because he claimed that they had already been paid - and told them not to come back to the construction site.

Kristy’s comments come shortly after Grant and his wife Courtney spoke to Yahoo Lifestyle about their on-screen ‘portrayal’ and what they think about their ‘edit’ on the reality show.

“We love our portrayal so far and the reason why we do love it is because we were nothing but ourselves from day one right through to the very end,” Grant says.

“We may have been a bit quieter during the first few weeks because we were settling in, but even when drama surrounds us later in the series or whatnot, we don't care what people say on Facebook or Instagram or whatever it might be because nobody really knows the stress of the situation and whatnot.

“We don't care what people think because we were ourselves. So if people like it, great, if people don't, well I don't care what they think, to be honest.”
