The Block finale: Fans defend Kristy and Brett after shocking auction result
Despite being labelled the season's villains, some fans are defending the controversial duo.
The Block came to a dramatic end last night, with some highs and lows that saw Steph and Gian earning a profit of $1,650,000 and another $100,000 in prize money, while Kristy and Brett were left devastated after scoring a profit of just $65,000 over their reserve.
Kristy and Brett were one of the season's most controversial couples, openly admitting they were there to "ruffle some feathers" and add some drama into the long-running renovation series.
Brett previously admitted in an interview that he found previous seasons 'boring' and was happy to stir the pot.
“Originally when we applied I was like, the last few seasons I’ve found boring,” Brett told KIIS 101.1’s Jase & Lauren.
“I just thought it would be interesting to bring in someone that wanted to do that and stir the pot and get in a bit of trouble. That was in our audition video.”
The couple were accused of bullying by other competitors as the season went on, and didn't win over many fans either with the season being labelled 'toxic' and 'negative'.

However, as Kristy and Brett grappled with what they labelled a 'profoundly unfair' outcome after saying their agent "s*** the bed" with their game plan, some fans of The Block have defended the pair.
'Please stop with the karma comments'
While some fans took delight in seeing Kristy and Brett upset over their result and said it was a karmic result, others stepped in to defend the couple.
"Please stop with the karma comments, some of you guys are so petty," one person said. "You should want a good outcome for all teams."
"Three months of your life, being filmed constantly and just the constant grind. House 1,2,3 not getting over $200,000 isn’t worth the time on the show, honestly," another said.

"t’s uncalled for to say that H2 and H3 had worse outcomes due to karma," another fan said in defence of the couple. "It’s childish, nasty, and cowardly from behind a keyboard. It’s also a reflection of YOUR nastiness, not anyone else’s."
"Completely agree," another commented. "People need to calm down."
Another fan said it was a shame to see Kristy's initial outburst during the auction.
"Leah and Ash took it graciously and Kristy did reach out to Leah in a caring way when L&A came back to the room, that was lovely to see," the fan pointed out.
"[It's] just a shame about Kristy's outburst in the room when they won 65k, it was uncomfortable to watch."
"I can’t believe it, but I actually felt sorry for them," another person replied.
