Sunrise fans surprised by Edwina Bartholomew's return to the show
Beloved Sunrise presenter Edwina Bartholomew has officially returned to the breakfast show after welcoming her son Thomas in March.
The mother-of-two, who announced her pregnancy on-air in August last year and went on maternity leave in January, said it was a great feeling being back at the desk.
“It’s been such a lovely five months,” she shared. “We’ve had such a lovely time as a family unit, so it was a bit sad to leave them at home, but also lovely to come back to work.”
The show’s official Instagram page posted a photo on Monday morning featuring Eddy wearing a bright yellow dress and sitting next to hosts Natalie Barr and David ‘Kochie’ Koch.
“Look who's back at Brekky Central!” the caption read. “We're so excited as Eddy returns to Sunrise following the birth of her beautiful baby boy Thomas.”

Eddy shared the same photo on her personal account, as well as a photo of the team playfully posing for the camera and laughing.
“Serious news pose vs delighted look of a woman who just enjoyed a hot coffee and finished a full sentence,” she captioned the gallery. “Good to be back”.
‘That went fast’
A number of Eddy’s followers quickly took to the comments to welcome her back to the show and express how happy they were to see her on TV again.
“I still remember this feeling and my boys are about 18 and 20 years older than yours Eddy. And how good’s the hair and makeup?! Welcome back,” The Morning Show’s Kyle Gillies wrote, to which Eddy hilariously replied, “What do you mean? I look like this at home…”.
“Welcome back @edwina_b!! Sorry I’m not there to get your welcome back brekky!” Sunrise’s sports reporter Mark Beretta, who is currently in Birmingham for the Commonwealth Games, commented.
“Great to have you back! Sunrise isn’t the same without you,” another follower shared, while someone else added, “The team is complete again”.
Meanwhile, plenty of people were surprised by how quickly her maternity leave went by.
“That went fast, welcome back!” one person remarked.
“Such a lovely surprise to see that beautiful smiling face this morning when I turned on the telly,” another fan wrote.
