Yahoo Lifestyle Stephen Colbert Trolls MAGA With Proof Trump Fans ‘Don’t Even Know What They Voted For’
Stephen Colbert said President Donald Trump’s on-again, off-again trade war between Canada and Mexico isn’t helping relations with America’s allies.
“He’s only been there two weeks, and he’s already pissing off the neighbors,” Colbert said.
The “Late Show” host rolled a video of basketball fans booing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at an NBA game in Toronto over the weekend.
“The Canadians are booing us!” Colbert said in disbelief. “Even worse, then they have to boo us again in French.”
Trump talked up tariffs throughout the 2024 presidential campaign, but Colbert said the president’s own supporters may not actually know what tariffs entail, how they work and what impact they would have on the U.S. economy.
“Evidently, no one knew what the hell that meant,” he said, pointing out that Google searches for “tariff” are up 2,400%, reaching a 21-year high.
“They don’t even know what they voted for!” Colbert said in exasperation, then trolled Trump voters with some other mock Google searches. “The next three most popular searches were ‘what my trump hat say?’ ‘is mexico america?’ and ‘can get pregnant in hot tub if keep jeans on?’”
