A recent Reddit thread has sparked an avalanche of nostalgia with former 90s kids reminiscing about a particular collectible that was all the rage in those simpler times. If you have memories of ripping open a packet of potato chips and pulling out a little plastic disc with a cartoon character on it, then you've accurately remembered TAZOS!

Launched in Australia in 1995 with licensed Looney Tunes characters emblazoned on them, Tazos were found in packets of crisps and could be collected or traded with other 'players', or you could follow the official Tazo rules and 'stack, wack and win'. Other franchises to grace the little circles of fun included The Simpsons, Batman and Robin, Star Wars and Space Jam.

Sadly, Smith's no longer produces the collectibles (although you can buy preloved ones on eBay) but the memory of Tazos lives on.

"Oh my god 6-year-old me would have lost his mind," one Redditor wrote under a photo of some Tazos in an Aussie nostalgia group. "I used to get a bag of chips on a Friday arvo in the middle of summer despite desperately wanting an ice cream instead, just for the tazo. I was a committed collector haha."

"Omg, I never got a gold one," another recalled. "I remember the first time I saw one at school though. That thing may as well have been an ancient Relic. I truly believe if I possessed one, my life would've been so much better today."

"I think losing my Wile E Coyote Tazo in a game during primary school made me more upset than my grandfather's death of the same year," another person quipped.

"I had the whole collection. Classic 90s nostalgia," added someone else.

"These were THE best in the 90s! Big nostalgia hit seeing these," another agreed.

The post also led to many people lamenting the fact they didn't hold onto their Tazo collections, and others revealing that they still had these prized possessions safely tucked away. However, if you were hopeful that your Tazo stash might be your solution to the cozzie livs situation we are currently facing, one Reddit user has bad news for you.

"I have the binder in my garage complete," they said. "From Simpsons to Dragonball Z and Chester Cheeto. Kinda shocked a complete collection only goes for like $30. Don't bother with popular collectibles."

Way to burst our bubble, dude!

Other fans have expressed the desire for the little discs to make a comeback.

"Whoa. Way to make me feel old lol. I remember collecting these like crazy, bought so many chips from the tuckshop at school and shops to try and collect them and swap them. Ah, fun times. They should bring it back for the new generation of kids," someone wrote on the Reddit post.

"How has no chip company come up with the idea of putting classic style Tazos back in packs? I haven’t bought a snack-sized bag in years and this would get me buying them every day," another person said.

Yet another Tazos fan very succinctly said, "They need to bring them back."

Smith's Australia has previously told other media outlets that there were no plans to bring Tazos back, but we can always live in hope and, in the meantime, there's always eBay.
