Logies 2024: Star tipped to win Gold Logie after making insane on-air pledge
Fans have weighed in on who they think should take home the coveted award.
The 2024 Logie Awards are set to take place at The Star, Sydney this Sunday with seven of Australia’s most popular TV personalities battling it out for the prestigious Gold Logie. The list of nominees contains a mix of previous winners and first-time hopefuls, with Asher Keddie and Sonia Kruger each having won the award once, Andy Lee previously being nominated four times, Julia Morris being nominated the past two years, and Larry Emdur, Robert Irwin and Tony Armstrong all up for the very first time in their careers.
Despite being one of the most accomplished TV stars in the category, Larry Emdur has expressed the most doubt that he will win the Gold Logie. In fact, the Channel Seven host recently told news.com.au that he’s so sure he won’t win that he’s made quite an extreme pledge if he does.
“I’m so confident I won’t win, I’ll happily get all the nominees name initials tattooed on my a** on The Morning Show live on Monday [if I do],” he revealed.

However, the results of Yahoo Lifestyle’s recent poll asking who our readers believe will take out the fan-voted category suggests that Larry might actually be getting inked next week.
The poll, which received over 12,000 votes, shows that over 50% of people believe Larry should win the Gold Logie. Robert Irwin and Tony Armstrong are both tied for second place with 11% of the votes each, followed by Andy Lee with 10% and Asher Keddie with 8%.
In equal last place are Julia Morris and Sonia Kruger, who each received 5% of the votes.
Robert Irwin's historic Logie nomination
Robert Irwin recently told Yahoo Lifestyle that he felt “very, very honoured” and “over the moon” to be nominated for the Gold Logie alongside his I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! co-host Julia Morris, making him the youngest male to ever be nominated for the prestigious award. Kylie Minogue won the Gold Logie when she was just 19 in 1988, and Delta Goodrem was also 19 in 2004 when she was nominated for the same award.
“I never thought in my wildest dream this is where we would be,” he gushed. “This is just the coolest and most surreal experience. But Julia and I just keep talking about how cool it is to be nominated, of course, but to do that with a mate. It’s really, really cool and it doesn't happen very often.”
“It’s super lucky,” Julia added. “And also, we always think it's just awesome that the show is still on the air. So for the show to be nominated and for both Robert and I to be nominated as presenters, and then to be nominated for the Gold, it's an embarrassment of riches.”
“But let me tell you, our friendship - we’ve already won.”
