Logies 2024: All the celebrities 'snubbed' and 'boycotting' the star-studded event

There are quite a few big names that won't be attending the 64th Logie Awards.

The biggest names in the Australian television industry are set to walk the red carpet at The Star, Sydney on Sunday for the 64th annual TV WEEK Logie Awards, also known as “television’s night of nights”. While the event will see media personalities across every network in the country rubbing shoulders, there are surprisingly a few big names that won’t be in attendance.

In recent weeks, a handful of Australia’s most popular stars have revealed they either weren’t invited or simply declined to attend. This follows claims that none of the 2024 cast of Married At First Sight received an invite to the event, which an insider has since told Yahoo Lifestyle isn’t entirely true.

Chrissie Swan, who has previously been nominated for the Gold Logie once and the Silver Logie for Most Popular Presenter three times, revealed in June that she had been snubbed by the event’s organisers.

“Where is it? I don't think I'm invited this year. I think this is the first year I haven't been invited in years,” she mused on her Nova radio show.

In a recent interview with her former radio co-host Sam Pang, who is set to host the ceremony for the second year in a row, Chrissie said she’s “excited” to watch the show from home.

"I'm so excited to watch you host the Logies. I won't be there, of course. I'll be on my couch having a laksa probably, but you are going to nail it as usual,” she remarked.

Abbie Chatfield, whose BINGE reality show FBoy Island was notably snubbed by the award show, told Yahoo Lifestyle this week that she also won’t be attending the event.

“I’m not going. I don't want to work for free, too much faff. It’s so much faff!” she remarked. “Adam gets home from his shows at five o'clock, so I'll be getting him from the airport and probably having dinner at home and we'll go to the movies or something.”

Meanwhile, Amanda Keller, who recently revealed she’d jumped from Channel 10 to Channel Seven to appear on Dr Chris Brown’s upcoming new series, is not listed as attending under the network’s list of confirmed talent.

This comes after Amanda revealed she’d been snubbed by the event last year, telling listeners on her WSFM breakfast radio show: “Two Logies ago, I was nominated for Gold – I’m not invited this year. I wasn’t expecting to be nominated, but I wasn’t invited.”

Kyle Sandilands, whose show Australian Idol is nominated for Best Entertainment Program, revealed on The Kyle and Jackie O Show last month that he also won't be attending as he “just can’t be bothered”.

Last year, the Logies were thrown into chaos after the shock jock pulled out of his presenting duties 48 hours before the ceremony. Kyle had agreed to present the award for Most Outstanding Children's Program alongside his 11-month-old son Otto before changing his mind at the last minute.

“I've been asked to present something, but I've had to pull the pin,” he explained on-air. “I've told them to shove it in their a**e, my exact words yesterday. My thing was, I had to bring my child out, he's not even one, and it was supposed to be at ten past eight, but they can't guarantee it won't be before 9pm. I said, 'I've got a baby, I can't be [waiting around] with a baby’.”

Despite being one of the highest-rated TV shows in Australia, multiple reports recently claimed that there will be no cast members from Married At First Sight in attendance.

Yahoo Lifestyle understands that breakout star Lucinda Light was initially asked about the event, but she explained it would be “near impossible” for her to make it back to Australia in time as the final date of her UK tour ends just 36 hours before the red carpet begins.

One season 11 participant tells Yahoo Lifestyle that they find it “weird” no one from their season will be attending, especially because so many cast members have walked the red carpet in previous years.

“It definitely would’ve been fun and I would’ve enjoyed going,” they said. “It’s disappointing, but I understand the decision because there were fewer invites to go around this year. It’s not that big of a deal.”

The 2024 Logie Awards will take place on Sunday, August 18, with the red carpet kicking off at 7pm followed by the award show at 7:30pm.

The 2024 Logie Awards will be broadcast on Channel Seven and 7plus.
