Kmart shoppers thrilled with $79 dupe of $200 cleaning product: 'Spotless'
Kmart has released a handheld version of one of its most popular products of 2024.
If your New Year’s resolution was to prioritise a tidy home and finally get on top of your cleaning schedule in 2025, then you’re in luck. Following the popularity of Kmart’s $99 spot cleaner last year, which many claimed was better than big-name competitors at double the price, the retail store has thrilled shoppers with the release of a cordless handheld version for $79.
The gadget is designed to clean couches, rugs and car seats, helping you remove those mysterious stains that have been annoying you for months. Kmart reposted a video on TikTok earlier this week of a shopper reviewing the product and describing it as “the best way to keep your home spotless”.
“This is the portable spot cleaner from Kmart. It’s cordless, super easy and lightweight to carry around,” they shared. “You just fill it up with water and add a dash of low foam cleaning solution.”

The woman explained that all you have to do is spray the area you want to clean and then run the spot cleaner over so it will vacuum up all the water.
“After just a couple of minutes on my couch and carpet, just look at the colour of this water - gross!” she said referring to the grey water she had collected.
“I’ve also been using this to clean my car and these seats look new again. Run to Kmart for this one, and happy cleaning!”
Major problem with new product
Kmart’s video has since racked up over half a million views, with many people describing the product as “awesome” and something they “need” to buy. However, plenty of hopeful shoppers complained that the spot cleaner wasn’t yet available on Kmart’s website and couldn’t be found in stores.
In response to some disgruntled customers, Kmart wrote in the comments: “Hi there, there have been some delays with the online listing. Please try to contact your local store to verify stock availability.”
Meanwhile, Kmart still stocks its $99 spot cleaner which many people have claimed is better than its big-name competitor Bissell, whose SpotClean machine is valued at around $200.

What cleaning solution do you add?
In addition to the queries on where to buy the product, others questioned what low foam cleaning solution they should be using.
One shopper commented that Bunnings sells a variety of Britex cleaning solutions, including a Low-Foaming Upholstery Cleaner for $13.95. Bunnings also stocks Deep Cleaning Carpet Cleaner for $17.95, Urine Remover spray and Odour Blaster spray for $14.95, and Spot ’n’ Stain spray for $8.95.
