Sofia Vergara Wore the Slinkiest Mermaid Gown to the 2025 Golden Globes
The 'Griselda' star went full siren.
When it comes to award show season, you can always count on Sofia Vergara to bring the glamour. From gowns in bright, bold colors to ones that celebrate her curves, the actress's red-carpet fashion never disappoints, and her look at the 2025 Golden Globes was no exception.
For the occasion, Vergara—who is nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television for her role as Griselda Blanco in Netflix's Griselda—opted for a dramatic black strapless gown from Georges Chakra’s fall 2024 collection. The mermaid-style dress featured a sparkly textured fabric that wrapped around her chest and hips before the dress spread into a glamorous skirt that trailed the floor. She paired it with a glittering 140 carat diamond necklace by Lorraine Schwartz Jewelry.
The actress wore her hair straight in a center part and went for a glamorous beauty look with dusky rose hues.
It's been five years since Vergara last attended the Golden Globes. She made an appearance at the 2020 ceremony as a presenter and wore a strapless burgundy gown with a corset bodice—also featuring a similar mermaid-style skirt—that was embellished with silver sequins. She carried a matching satin handbag and accessorized with silver hoop earrings.
A lot has changed since then. Vergara recently reflected on her transformation from sitcom star to drug queen pin in her first serious role as an actress in a statement celebrating this year's nomination. "Thank you so much to the Golden Globes for this nomination! I’ve done comedy my whole career, and I was stepping into a whole new world as a dramatic actress," she previously wrote on Instagram. "We worked on this show for over a decade, and the last year of sharing it with everyone has been incredible."
Vergara added that it was "such an honor" to be nominated among her fellow nominees, whose work she said she has "admired immensely."
