All the new Aussie reality TV shows set to premiere in 2025: 'Going to be huge'
There’s something for everyone.
2025 is shaping up to be a big year for Australian reality TV, and not just because of the return of fan favourite shows like Married At First Sight, Farmer Wants A Wife and The Block. A handful of new formats are set to be introduced over the next 12 months, most of which are attached to a well-known TV personality.
From international franchises to homegrown series, here are all the new Aussie reality shows you can expect to become addicted to in 2025.
Stranded on Honeymoon Island
Stranded on Honeymoon Island, which is narrated by radio host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, follows 12 singles looking for love on a South Pacific island and is tipped to be a mix between MAFS and Australian Survivor.
Channel Seven first announced the reality show in 2023 and even released a first-look trailer in May this year, however, the premiere date has been repeatedly pushed back and it’s now set to debut in 2025.

Interestingly, the series was filmed over 14 months ago and Seven reportedly splashed out “up to one million dollars” producing the show overseas.
The Golden Bachelor
Following months of speculation, Channel Nine announced in November that they will be bringing The Golden Bachelor to Australia in 2025. The series, which launched in the US last year starring 72-year-old Gerry Turner, is a spin-off of the popular dating franchise featuring senior citizens finding love.
Former Farmer Wants A Wife presenter Samantha Armytage is set to host the reality show following her exit from Channel Seven, with applications now open for people aged over 60 looking for love.
“My new show is The Golden Bachelor coming in 2025 and I’m so excited to continue to play a TV Cupid, but this time for a more… ummm… mature crowd,” she wrote on Instagram. “It’s THE biggest show in America and I know it’s going to be huge here… Can’t wait to start filming.”
Survivor: Australia v The World
Survivor fans rejoice as Channel 10 is set to air an all-star global version of the popular reality show in 2025. The series, aptly titled Survivor: Australia v The World, will see the best of the best Aussie contestants going up against players from the US, South Africa, Finland and New Zealand franchises.
A production insider tells Yahoo Lifestyle that the season was shot over 14 days in Samoa, making it a much shorter series than fans are used to as the Australian version typically films for 47 days and the American edition takes place over 26. Despite its short length, our source says the season is tipped to be the “most thrilling season” that’s ever been filmed.
While Channel 10 is yet to officially announce the airdate for Survivor: Australia v The World, Yahoo Lifestyle has already revealed all of the Aussie contestants in the cast here.
Once in a Lifetime
Chris Brown’s animal adventure series Once in a Lifetime was first announced at Channel Seven’s Upfront event last year as one of his three projects on the network alongside Dream Home and Dancing With The Stars.
The series will follow Chris as he is “pushed to his limits in the pursuit of the ultimate animal encounter” alongside various Australian celebrities acting as his veterinary assistant.
“This is a journey into the unknown as these unlikely duos take on the challenge of helping the world’s most iconic animals – all while hopefully not putting themselves on the menu,” the network shared in a statement.
Australian personalities set to join Chris on his global wildlife journeys include Mick Molloy, Amanda Keller, Kate Ritchie and Matt Preston.
Big Brother Australia
It’s certainly not a new reality show, however, Big Brother Australia is returning to screens in 2025 with several major changes, including a new host, new network and new house.
Channel 10 has promised that viewers can expect “the authentic, OG show you fell in love with all those years ago”, with live nominations and live evictions.
It’s also been announced that Mel Tracina will take on the role of host for Big Brother Australia, following in the footsteps of Gretel Killeen and Sonia Kruger for the upcoming sixteenth season. The radio star and TV personality is best known for her role as the cultural correspondent on Channel 10’s comedy panel show The Cheap Seats.

“I was one of the millions of Aussies captivated by Big Brother when it launched on Channel 10 in the early noughties,” she said in a statement from the network. “The show has such a loyal and passionate fan base, and I am excited to help bring back the show's original spirit (minus the flip phones and bum dancing).”
