Farmer Wants a Wife: Who's still together from Australia's most successful dating show

It is safe to say Farmer Wants a Wife is one of Australia's more successful reality TV matchmaking formats.

Thirteen seasons in 16 years on two TV networks have resulted in nine marriages, seven relationships and 21 children - with the newest baby born in December 2023.

The 2024 season is just around the corner and we’ve been introduced to the five farmers ready to find love, with the first trailer already teasing plenty of drama.

Here's a look back at who found their happily-ever-after on the show ...

Season 1 – Chris Newsome and Kim Tierney

In the very first season of Farmer Wants a Wife, when Tamworth farmer Chris Newsome met disability worker Kim Tierney, it was true love.

They were the first FWAW couple to marry with their wedding featured on the show in season two.

"From day one, it was amazing how we connected," Chris told Woman's Day in 2008.

"I'm quite slow to open up to people and warm to people.

"Sometimes I'm a bit standoffish until I get to know someone but when I met Kim, I felt like I'd known her for ages."

They now have a son Corbin and a daughter Charlotte.

"I sometimes wonder how life would have been if I hadn't gone on the show, but I'm so glad I did," Kim revealed to New Idea.

"Chris is such a nice person - such a lovely, gentle, genuine, funny man."

Season 2 – Rob Hodges and Jo Fincham

In 2008, Mount Gambier cattle and sheep farmer Rob Hodges met city slicker Jo Hodges and the pair hit it off. Now married, the romance took Jo by surprise.

"I never thought in a million years that I would spend my days living on a farm and have three children," Jo told New Idea.

"But now, I just couldn’t live back in the city; there’s no way I could adjust back to city living."

The couple married in 2010 and their children Darcy, 12, Maggie, 10 and Roy, 7, followed.

Speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle shortly after the latest season of Farmer Wants a Wife ended, Jo shared her thoughts on the revamped version of the reality show in comparison to her time on TV.

“Shows really thrive on drama, which is unfortunate, but that’s the way it is,” she said.

“I feel that Farmer has evolved a little bit from when we were on it, to the point where now it is a little bit more drama-filled.

“The guys were in it a lot more and now it’s sort of more focused on the girls. It used to be very much them getting their hands dirty on the farm.”

Season 3 – Damian Atkins and Rachael Peynenborg

In 2009, it was another case of love at first sight when Tasmanian farmer Damian Atkins and Rachael Peynenborg hit it off immediately.

He even convinced her to move from the mainland to the Apple Isle.

Their first child, Harvey, was born in 2011, with Rachael saying at the time: "Not in a million years could I have imagined this would be the result of going on the show."

They married in 2016 and have two more kids - Fin, 10, and Mae, 8.

"We're doing great," Damian told Woman's Day last year.

"Just trying to juggle our businesses, farms and our three crazy kids."

Season 4 – Brad Crane and Stacie Marmion

It was love at first sight for farmer Brad Crane when he met Stacie Marmion on the reality show, then on channel Nine.

"I remember telling the producer, 'I am going to marry that girl', and he turned and said, 'Not yet, we have another 10 shows to go first,'" Brad told Woman's Day in 2019.

Despite the producers urging Brad to be open to other contestants, it was Stacie he chose and they are still together.

Twelve years later they are married with three daughters – Darcie, 10, Bobbie, 8, and Frankie, 6 - living on their farm in Gunnedah.

Season 4 – Scott Warby and Clare Spark

Mungindi farmer Scott Warby chose Brisbane-based Clare Spark during the show in 2009 and they started a long-distance relationship, meeting every other weekend.

Nine months later, Scott proposed and Clare moved in with him.

The couple married in 2011 with Clare saying at the time: "Being able to call Scott my husband makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world. I feel like we've known each other for years, which must mean we are meant to be together."

The couple have two children, Elsie, 10, and Fraser, 7.

Season 5 – Nathan McClymont and Amanda Ecker

When they met 10 years ago on the show, farmer Nathan McClymont was so smitten with Amanda Ecker that he proposed in the finale!

They married eight years ago and have three sons Mason, 13, Benjamin, 10, and Oscar, 3.

"Mason is a football nut, just like his dad; they go to all the Eagles games together," Amanda told Mamamia last year. "Ben loves to swim and ride his bike.

"He’s a little entertainer."

The couple planned to have only three children, but Amanda is now not so sure.

"Oscar’s just been a little dream, so it’s hard to say 'no more'."

Season 7 – Frank Atherton and Tenille Jolly

It was on a speed date in 2011 when Hughenden farmer Frank Atherton warmed to Perth girl Tenille Jolly on Farmer Wants A Wife.

"There was an instant spark and the conversation just flowed," Tenille told the ABC.

"Maybe I already knew it was meant to be, it was all just too easy."

The romantic grazier proposed to Tenille two years later on Valentine’s Day.

"He brought out some champagne and a plate of antipasto and dropped to one knee, Tenille revealed.

"It was a lovely moment and I did cry ... I had been waiting for it to happen because I love the man."

The couple are now married with one child, six-year-old Oliver.

Season 8 – Sam Alford and Jodie Byrne

Kununurra cattleman Sam Alford fell for Sydney travel agent Jodie Byrne on the 2012 season of Farmer Wants A Wife.

A long-distance romance wasn't for them, so Jodie decided to relocate to Sam’s Western Australia property just three months later and - by Christmas - Sam had proposed.

The couple married at the beginning of 2015 and their baby, River, was born in 2018.

Season 8 – Nikko Lord and Jade Truman

Richmond farmer Nikko Lord convinced Brisbane yoga teacher Jade Truman to move to the country and start a life with him.

"In 2012, I moved from Brisbane to a large cattle station 120km out of Richmond in QLD," Jade says on her outback yoga website.

"It’s a love story that will be told around the smoko table to our children and children’s children.

"My husband, Nikko Lord, was also known as Farmer Nikko ‘the cattle baron’, for a number of years after our five minutes of fame on the hit TV show, Farmer Wants a Wife. I quickly packed my bags and became a Jillaroo alongside him."

They were married in 2017 on North Stradbroke Island and have two boys, Jock and Sandy.

Season 11 – Andrew Guthrie and Jess Nathan

Andrew Guthrie and Jess Nathan knew they were right for each other early in the show, even contemplating dropping out of the filming of Farmer Wants A Wife to be together.

"Andrew knew he was going to pick me, so we went to the producers and told them we'd fallen in love and wanted to leave, but they said no," she told the Daily Telegraph.

They were also told to keep their love a secret "because it would mean the whole show would have to stop filming and people would lose their jobs".

And in August this year, they made it official with Andrew putting a ring on it!

Season 12 – Harry Lloyd and Tess Brookman

Harry and Tess seemed to have an instant connection in 2022's season of the show. And while the couple still live separately, Tess in Airlie Beach while she finishes her psychology degree and Harry on his family's farm in Kyabram, Victoria they are still together.

The couple recently took a trip to the Whitsundays together to have some couple time.

Season 12 – Will Simpson and Jessica Cova

Last year also saw Will and Jessica decide that they were made for each other.

And the couple has since adopted a dachshund puppy together after Jess's dog George was hit by a car during a storm.

"The BEST birthday gift ever 🥹 Introducing Clyde George Simpson 🐾 Welcome to our world little one," Jess wrote on Instagram when they got the puppy.

Season 13 - Brad Jones and Clare Hockings

It's been more than a year and a half since last year's couples finished filming season 13 of the show, however Brad and Clare welcomed their first baby together in December 2023.

It's fair to say, the couple were surprised to be celebrating the milestone so soon.

"We didn’t think it would happen as quickly as it did," Brad told New Idea in July.

"[My parents] are so excited,” Clare added. "Brad’s parents just welcomed a new granddaughter the other day, so it’ll be nice for our baby to have a little cousin close in age."

Season 13 - David McMahon and Emily Gordon

In October 2023, David and Emily confirmed that they were officially engaged. "Incredibly proud to announce, this farmer has found his wife," he wrote on Instagram confirming the news.

David proposed at Mudgee's Evamor Valley, the place the couple had their first solo date on the show together.

"There was a moment at Evamor, when we were having a glass of wine as the sun was setting and I just knew this was something special," David said in a statement to Yahoo Lifestyle.

"So, it was really important for me that when l asked Em to marry me, it had to be at Evamor Valley - the spot is just such a special part of our journey."

Season 13 - Andrew Coleman and Claire Saunders

Despite Claire thinking she was going home, Andrew knew that she was the one for him.

"We have a nice positive thing going here and it is good to finally get to show the world our happiness," Claire told Woman's Day in May.

Claire has now moved her life from Tasmania to Andrew's farm in Narromine, NSW including her dogs and horses.

"It's all falling into place nicely," Andrew said with Claire adding, "We've got a great life here."

Season 13 - Matt Young and Olivia Benic

It looks like Matt and Olivia may also be engaged after eagle-eyed fans spotted Olivia wearing a solitaire ring on 'that finger' after the couple returned from a holiday in Fiji.

"Ummm I see a ring 😍…… Fiji under the lights evening proposal we’ve missed the announcement," one follower wrote on Instagram.

The couple are yet to confirm anything except their love for each other.

"One year ago I was giggling with my friends about potentially going on TV to hopefully meet my life human," Olivia wrote on Instagram in August.

"I thank the stars everyday for letting us find each other (even if it was via the most chaotic of ways). I love how devoted you are, I love how patient you are… I just love you."
