After years of royal insiders claiming Kate Middleton played the role of peacemaker between Prince William and Prince Harry, it seems the Princess of Wales now has different priorities, particularly after her recent cancer battle.

Christopher Andersen, author of The King, told Fox News that, these days, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aren't on Kate's radar. He adds that Kate is focused purely on preserving the future of the monarchy with William and his father, King Charles.

"The idea that Kate somehow still has the time and energy to continue playing peacemaker is rubbish," Andersen says. "She did try over a period of years and finally threw up her hands in disgust. She did her bit, but it wasn't enough to build a bridge between William and Charles on the one side and Harry on the other."

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams also added that Kate and William are on the same page about the feud with Harry.

"Harry portrayed her as cold and unwelcoming to [his wife] Meghan Markle in [his memoir] Spare, when he painted an extremely damaging picture of the royal family," he tells Fox News. "The memoir is soon to be released in paperback and his allegations will surface again, though fortunately, he will not be adding to the volume or promoting it. He knows perfectly well how damaging it has been."

Fitzwilliams adds that Kate is trying to focus on prioritising her health and slowly returning to her royals duties, saying, "Catherine will wish to avoid anything that promotes negative energy."

It comes after Prince Harry and Prince William were spotted mere metres away from each other in late August as they gathered to farewell their uncle.

Royal expert Hugo Vickers told The Sun that if there were to be any reconciliation between the brothers, there would be an "enormous amount of groundwork to be done." However, he believes there could be a chance "if both sides are prepared to give a little."

He added, "Let's hope that one day this will happen. But I don't honestly see it happening in the near future."

"They have been in the same room, if I can put it like that, on several occasions," Vickers said. "But this doesn't necessarily mean that there's going to be a reconciliation.

"I think that, from what I understand, Prince William is very annoyed, and tends to be rather unforgiving, so I think there's an enormous amount of groundwork to be done."

Referencing Harry's book and his Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, Vickers said, "He has thrown a great number of spears and javelins in the direction of the royal family, particularly at Prince William, and indeed at Catherine as well, and, of course, to the King.

"So Prince William, I think, has every reason to be very irritated by his brother."

The royal expert says that while the brothers may have been able to patch things up before Spare and Harry & Meghan were released, it's going to be less likely now, especially given William is "very protective of his wife".
