Kristin Davis says she was ghosted by an unnamed actor

It could easily be mistaken for a plot taken straight from Sex and the City: Kristin Davis' character Charlotte loans a man $5,000 only to be ghosted by him.

But it really happened, Davis revealed on her new podcast, Are You a Charlotte?, where she and guest Sarah Wynter, who appeared on the series' pilot, discussed the concept of someone abruptly disappearing from your life.

"I did one time date this out-of-work actor. I think this was before Sex and the City, maybe between [Melrose Place] and Sex and City, or maybe when I was on Melrose. I don't know. He's now very successful," said Davis, who played Brooke on the Aaron Spelling drama from 1995 to 1996. "He was very talented, but, at the time, I had money because I'd been working, and I was at his house and he had all of these, like, 'your electricity's gonna be turned off,' like all those notices that you get when ... you can't pay your bills. They were all just all over his house, right? And I was like, uh, you know, what's happening? And then, I think, he wrecked his motorcycle, which is like how he got around town to his auditions. And I was like, you know, 'Can I lend you some money?'"

Davis knows now that the move was a "horrible mistake."

She cautioned that anyone listening should not loan money to someone they're dating.

"Do not do it," Davis advised. "It doesn’t end well."

In her case, it wasn't immediate, but it happened just the same.

"It changed the dynamic in a horrible way, and it was a kind of a casual thing, right?" she said. "But I probably should have known better. You know what I’m saying? But I just felt like, I can help, I should help this guy. He's so talented — which he is. I lend him money. I think it was all of $5,000. So I lent him this money and then, you know, he stops calling. So I’m like, 'What the heck?'"

Although Davis attempted to confront him, things didn't go as planned.

"I remember going over to his apartment and banging on the door," she said. "And his dog was in there, and I loved his dog, and I could hear his dog. But I was like, 'Is he in there and pretending that he is not in there?'"

The mystery man later called Davis to ask if that was her banging on his door.

"And I was like, 'Well, yes,'" Davis recalled. "I felt so embarrassed, like I was being messy."

Wynter reassured her that she had every right to want her money back. She said that Davis should get it back with interest now.

"I just would love some acknowledgment or whatever, which is kind of a fantasy," Davis said.

When Wynter suggested that Davis show up at his home again, the Couples Retreat star said no.

"He lives out in the country with some children, so I don't think I want to show up there," she said.

Davis' Charlotte, along with Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), is expected to return later this year on the third season of And Just Like That. In the meantime, new episodes of her podcast are available weekly.
