The Block 2024: Shock twist as one couple leaves just weeks into filming

The Block has certainly been known to ramp up the drama in recent seasons in the name of good television, but it seems that some of the juicy bits are happening without any input from the producers at all. With the hit series not set to return to our screens until later in the year, production has been underway at Philip Island in Victoria as a new set of 'Blockheads' take on the challenge of creating dream homes and then selling them to the highest bidder.

However, the show might be down a team with news that one of the couples has already left the gruelling experience just a few weeks into filming.

Rumours of the departure started swirling in a Facebook Group dedicated to the 2024 version of the show with fans wondering if the team had been kicked off of the show or left of their own accord.

Now a production insider has exclusively revealed to Yahoo Lifestyle that a couple have indeed left the series, but the situation might not be as explosive as fans were anticipating.

"A couple have left," the source told Yahoo Lifestyle. "They were definitely not kicked off the show though, it was on their own accord."

So will Channel Nine now have to go into casting mode to replace the couple who have left? Only time will tell as the source tells Yahoo Lifestyle that viewers will have to "wait until the show airs."

"It will unfold," the source teased.

The villains revealed

The news of one couple's departure comes after a different insider told Yahoo Lifestyle that the 'villains' of the 2024 season were set to be pretty explosive.

"If you think Kristy and Brett were divisive to viewers, well you ain't seen nothing yet," the source exclusively told Yahoo Lifestyle.

Mimi and Kristian Belperio are rumoured to be at the centre of the drama for the 20th anniversary season of the hit renovation reality series with the source saying, "The feeling is that we have bought some serious dynamite with these two and we are just waiting for an explosion."

However, a different source says that Mimi and Kristian are anything but villains - at least so far.

Regardless of who the 'villains' end up being, the source assures us that there will still be plenty of spicy moments to look forward to when the show returns.

"When you are under massive pressure on The Block, building a house and going head to head with your highly competitive neighbours, we know that people behave badly," they continued. "This year isn't going to be any different."
