EXCLUSIVE: The Block 2024 villains revealed: 'Serious dynamite'

Channel Nine's new series of The Block is currently in production in Phillip Island and the word on the street is that the purple team from Adelaide are going to be the main villains.

"If you think Kristy and Brett were divisive to viewers, well you ain't seen nothing yet," a source exclusively tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

Mimi and Kristian Belperio are rumoured to be at the centre of the drama for the 20th anniversary season of the hit renovation reality series. And while viewers will have to wait until after the Olympics to see how (and if) they stir up trouble - it could indicate that Channel Nine is doubling down on the drama from last year.

"The feeling is that we have bought some serious dynamite with these two and we are just waiting for an explosion," the source alleges.

The couple - who went viral on TikTok thanks to their lavish wedding - could be set to be formidable competitors in the series as they know a thing or two about running a successful business. The pair are said to be the owners of the upmarket restaurant Ba Khang situated in West Lakes Adelaide.

"The show is designed to put people in situations where they feel uncomfortable so that even the nicest contestants will blow up at things that are not that big of a deal," the source explains to Yahoo Lifestyle.

"When you are under massive pressure on The Block, building a house and going head to head with your highly competitive neighbours, we know that people behave badly," they continued. "This year isn't going to be any different."

The sources also revealed that although Channel Nine is only early into production, they could not be happier with the new lineup of Blockheads."

"I think people are expecting this next season to be sunshine and lollipops but they will be shocked when they see how ruthless some of these new contestants are," the source said.

The Block 2024 cast leaked online

Filming for the upcoming twentieth season of The Block is well and truly underway, as this year’s teams have been spotted at the Phillip Island location.

The 2024 contestants were photographed arriving on set earlier this month, with local residents sharing regular updates about production in a popular Facebook group.

While social media users overwhelmingly praised the fact that the cast is made up of new contestants, a handful of people expressed disappointment over the lack of representation.

"No one over forty by the looks of things,” one person wrote, while another shared, “Just all want to get popular on social media, no older contestants, just all for looks”.

“Sad to see they are all young it would have been great to have a mixed age group - bring some maturity, spice and zest to the show... so over influencer wannabes!” someone else remarked.
