The Block 2024: Inside the 'villain' couple's viral TikTok wedding

Mimi and Kristian Belperio's 2023 wedding went off on social media thanks to their bridal party's epic entrance.

The couple rumoured to be the 'villains' on the upcoming season of The Block - Mimi and Kristian Belperio from Adelaide - already have a surprising claim to fame that has nothing to do with the home renovation series.

The pair tied the knot in late 2023 and found themselves the subject of a viral TikTok thanks to the rather unique way the bridal party entered the reception.

The ladies danced their way into the reception hall with a choreographed dance to Hilary Duff’s 2003 song ‘What Dreams Are Made Of’ - in a nod to Mimi's love of all things Disney and The Lizzie McGuire Movie, which the song appeared in.

Adorned in matching white dresses and Lizzie's signature microphone headpieces, the party made quite the entrance - and the video ended up making quite the stir, amassing over 6 million views in less than a week.

Speaking to the Adelaide Advertiser, Mimi shared how she and her bridesmaids prepared for the big moment.

“We all watched The Lizzie McGuire Movie the night before the wedding in preparation, snuck in a few rehearsals accompanied by mimosas the morning of and then a little more rehearsing in our green room at the reception,” she told the publication.

“The girls drank a whole bottle of Hennessy before their entrance to settle their nerves and honestly did me so proud. Let’s just say none of us can get the song out of our heads now.”

The bride, a self-confessed Disney fanatic, said that she 'couldn't believe' the clip - originally shared by her bridesmaid had gone viral.

Mimi's Instagram and TikTok accounts are now both private - likely at the request of Channel Nine - however, the company who provided the videographers for the wedding has shared the video to their own social media accounts.

In February, an insider told Yahoo Lifestyle that the upcoming batch of Blockheads had been asked to cull their Instagram followings "to avoid looking like potential 'influencers' or 'fame hungry wannabees' for the 20th-anniversary series".

"The last two weeks leading up to filming have seen several brand new contestants deleting up to thousands of followers to meet this criteria from Channel Nine - which, apparently has happened in other years and is standard for a lot of reality shows," the source shared at the time.

Mimi and her husband—said to own the upmarket restaurant Ba Khang in West Lakes Adelaide—are tipped to be the 'villains' in the upcoming season. A source exclusively told Yahoo Lifestyle that "the feeling is that we have bought some serious dynamite with these two, and we are just waiting for an explosion."
