Caravan owner's $4.90 Bunnings hack to solve common storage problem
Shoppers have praised the ‘fantastic’ solution.
Perhaps one of the most challenging parts of living in a caravan is being able to maximise your limited storage space while keeping things tidy and presentable. Sure, you could store your cleaning supplies in the bathroom and cookware under the bed, but sometimes aesthetics are just as important as functionality.
One caravan owner has received praise on TikTok after revealing how she managed to solve a common problem thanks to a budget-friendly Bunnings gadget. Jess (@plenty.of.sun), who lives in a caravan full-time with her partner Daniel, told her followers she found the perfect spot to store her broom so it was out of sight but still in reach.

“Storage broom hack for in your van if you don't want to stick it in the bathroom,” she said. “Most people stick it here [next to the toilet] and if that's your jam and it doesn't bother you, that's cool. But mine is bright green and it did not go with the decor, so this is where I've put it.
“I have stuck it on the dead side of the bed. So I never have to see it and it's out of the way, and you can put a bag over the brush head so it doesn't get your bed dirty. You're welcome.”

Another option is the Command 1.8kg Broom Gripper for $14.97, which also comes in a two-pack and doesn’t require any tools to install. This option fits most indoor mops and brooms, holds up to 1.8kg per gripper and has a 4.5-star rating.
Caravan owners praise 'fantastic idea'
Caravan owners have taken to the comments on Jess’ video to praise the handy solution, with many describing it as “excellent” and a “fantastic idea”.
“Bloody hell that is so clever,” one person wrote, while another added, “Brilliant, drives me insane”.
“I stick mine in the trundle and just bring it in when needed,” a third shared, followed by someone else who said, “I keep mine in the toolbox it’s retractable”.

A different user also suggested rotating the broom to ensure the bedding stays clean, writing: “Turn it around so the head is at the other end of the bed and it won’t get your bedding dirty. That’s how ours is placed in our van!”
