The Block 2024 cast leaks online as filming kicks off in Phillip Island

Filming for the upcoming twentieth season of The Block is well and truly underway as this year’s teams have been spotted on Phillip Island.

The 2024 contestants were photographed arriving on set earlier this month, with local residents sharing regular updates about production in a popular Facebook group.

One fan shared an image last week of the 2024 cast taking part in a promotional photo shoot outside the National Vietnam Veterans Museum.

The snap shows four couples dressed in their team colours: a young man and woman in blue, another male-female couple wearing red, two men in yellow, and another man and woman in head-to-toe green.

Not only are the green team wearing clothing that represents their team colour but the woman’s hair has also been dyed a bright shade of green. Meanwhile, the yellow team interestingly chose to wear fish shoes instead of work boots for the photoshoot.

It’s unknown who the fifth team is or what team colour they will be, but fans have speculated a returning couple may complete the cast.

While social media users overwhelmingly praised the fact that the cast is made up of new contestants, a handful of people expressed disappointment over the lack of representation.

"No one over forty by the looks of things,” one person wrote, while another shared, “Just all want to get popular on social media, no older contestants, just all for looks”.

“Sad to see they are all young it would have been great to have a mixed age group - bring some maturity, spice and zest to the show... so over influencer wannabes!” someone else remarked.

Who are the new cast members?

Not much is known about who the new cast members are, however, a woman shared a photo of the green-haired woman out and about in Phillip Island and said her name is Kylie.

“Introduced herself straight up, absolutely lovely. We had a good chat,” the local shared.

Fans took to the comments to share their thoughts on Kylie, with one person writing: “She has a gorgeous face and looks real. We need real.”

“She looks nice,” another added, while someone else said, “She looks fun. Fingers crossed”.

“The green-haired girl won't be hard to spot. She'll be sassy! Takes confidence to pull off hair like that,” a different user replied.

What else do we know about season 20?

Outside of the new cast, The Block fans have also shared photos of the show’s brand new logo which has been displayed around the building site.

The logo reveals that the new season will be subtitled ‘XX’, which are the Roman numerals for 20 as this is the twentieth season. The image also features palm trees and four penguins gathered around a modern-looking red house.

Scott Cam has already been spotted around Phillip Island, as has foreman Keith Schleiger and Dan Reilly. According to the Herald Sun, Darren Palmer has also filmed promotional footage on Berry’s Beach wearing a pair of red board shorts.

The new season of The Block is rumoured to premiere in August, with Shelley Craft, Shaynna Blaze and Neale Whitaker all expected to return.
