Spotify Wrapped 2024: Bizarre detail in Aussies' most played songs
Spotify Wrapped 2024 is finally here!
After a big build-up, Spotify has revealed its 2024 Spotify Wrapped data and now we can all play the same artists we listened to all year long as though it's the first time we've ever heard them!
All across your social media today, you'll likely see friends share their most-played artists and songs: from the frisky friend who looked to have played Sabrina Carpenter's 'Juno' on repeat for the latter half of the year, to the one friend who's never broken out of their emo phase (guilty).
While we all bask in the glow of our 2024 Wrapped playlists, Spotify has revealed some interesting insights into Australia's listening habits based on the data they've collected over the last 12 months, and while some facts seem obvious, some others are very very rogue indeed.
Australia's most-streamed song leaves people baffled once again
While The Wiggles took out the top spot for Australia's most-streamed local artists, followed by The Kid Laroi, it was 'Riptide' by Vance Joy that took the number one place for Australia's most-streamed local artist song. Again.
You may recall Vance also took out this title for 2023 Wrapped, with 'Riptide' coming out on the top spot for most-streamed local artist for its 10-year anniversary last year.
The song has had a huge resurgence in 2023, and when Sydney Morning Herald did an investigation into it in October, Vance Joy's rep stated there was no real reason for the success of the song as it started charting again.

Here’s what Australia streamed most this year:
It's probably no shock to anyone that Taylor Swift once again nabbed the top spot as Australia's most-streamed artist in 2024, with Benson Boone making his debut for the most streamed track across the country with his banger 'Beautiful Things'.
Australia's most-streamed album was, you guessed it, T-Swift's The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, followed by Sabrina Carpenter's Short N' Sweet and Billie Eilish's Hit Me Hard and Soft.

Australia's most listened-to podcasts and audibooks:
Just like last year, Aussies apparently can't get enough of Joe Rogan, with The Joe Rogan Experience taking the number one spot, followed by The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett, Huberman Lab, CaseFile True Crime, and Call Her Daddy.
Spare, by Prince Harry, was the number one most popular audiobook across the country, followed by Sarah J. Mass' A Court of Thorn and Roses.
