Spotify Wrapped 2023: Baffling detail revealed in Aussies' listening habits
While it's no surprise Taylor Swift dominated, the Aussie-specific stats might surprise you.
It's the most glorious time of year for music lovers: Spotify Wrapped has just released its 2023 data, so you can reflect back on your year that was and what songs and artists you listened to the most.
All across your social media this morning you're probably seeing friends share their Spotify Wrapped data: it's likely Taylor Swift is dominating after Spotify revealed she was the most-streamed artist this year. Or perhaps, the Wrapped details are giving you a sneak peek into your mates' lives and psyche. Did they also listen to 57,500 minutes of 2000s emo bangers this year? Are they doing OK?
While we all listen to our carefully curated 2023 Wrapped playlists as though we've never heard the songs before in our lives, Spotify has revealed some interesting insights into Australia's listening habits.
While it's no surprise Taylor Swift took out Australia's most-streamed artist, and Miley Cyrus' banger 'Flowers' became the number one most-streamed track, it was the Aussie stats that have left people scratching their heads.

On its 10-year anniversary, Vance Joy's 'Riptide' has taken out the top spot for Australia's most-streamed local artist song. Yep, you read that right.
The song has had a huge resurgence this year, and when Sydney Morning Herald did an investigation into it in October, Vance Joy's rep stated there was no real reason for the success of the song as it started charting again.

In other news, The Wiggles were Australia's most-streamed local artists, and Morgan Wallen's One Thing At A Time took out the number one spot for Australia's most-streamed album, followed by Taylor Swift's Midnights.
Aussies also listened to a lot of Joe Rogan this year with The Joe Rogan Experience taking out the number one podcast slot, followed by Call Her Daddy, with Aussies The Inspired Unemployed coming in at number five with their self-titled podcast.
