"Inc" may be permanent, but his time on The Real Housewives of Potomac sure isn't.

On Sunday, Jan. 26, Mia Thornton appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where she opened up about the reason behind her recent split from her ex-boyfriend Incognito.

According to Thornton, the two went their separate ways because of the attention he received from being on the Bravo series.

"Inc has worked really, really hard for his reputation and his career, he's 20 years in as a syndication radio personality," said Mia, 40. "And he feels as though this platform doesn't align with his brand."

"I respect that and he will forever be my best friend. Are we exclusive and are we dating? No," she added. "It's fine."

PEOPLE reached out to Incognito for comment.

When pushed back about the reason by fellow guest Quad Webb (of Married to Medicine fame), Mia immediately went on the defense, noting that the timing of their romance wasn't best as she's still married to husband Gordon Thornton.

"To his defense, I need to get a divorce first. I need to get a divorce first," Mia said. "So we're going to work on that, we're going to focus on [Gordon] and the kids."

And though they're not together now, Mia implied that she still has a future with Incognito. "He's not going anywhere," she said. "What's meant to be is forever."

Mia's relationship with Incognito has been a hot topic over the past year, especially on RHOP.

The two former high school sweethearts rekindled their romance amid Mia's split from Gordon. But they also "overlapped" earlier in Mia's romance with Gordon, so much so that Mia questioned whether Gordon was their son Jeremiah's biological father.

A DNA test, done by Gordon, has seemingly proved his paternity. Still, Mia and Incognito have been questioning the validity of the exam.

"I honestly do not trust Gordon's test," Mia said on WWHL of the exam, which she said she wasn't a part of. "That's why I feel, I've been asking Gordon for a formal test. This could have all been squashed a long time ago if everybody would just be mature adults."

As the debate plays out on TV, Mia and Incognito's breakup won't be seen as Bravo cameras went down before Mia announced their split over the holidays.

Meanwhile, Incognito is not the first man who has expressed their discomfort with the platform that Housewives brings. All season long, Mia's costar Keiarna Stewart has been dealing with this with her boyfriend, Greg.

"It can be challenging putting your relationship out there for the world to see," Ashley Darby said on Sunday's RHOP, herself having dealt with the same problems from estranged husband Michael Darby. "Any faults in that foundation? Believe me, baby — they will be exacerbated."

RHOP airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET, while WWHL airs Sunday-Thursday evenings. Episodes stream the next day on Peacock.
