MasterChef Australia fans have previously shared how upbeat and positive the cooking competition is, especially in comparison to its overseas counterparts. While some may love the wholesome nature of the reality series and the way everyone cheers each other on, viewers noticed a different vibe on Wednesday and they were kind of loving it.

The judges - Poh Ling Yeow, Jean-Christophe Novelli, Sofia Levin and Andy Allen usually put on a united front when it comes to their critiques of the contestant's dishes - even to the point of shouting down the guest judge at times. However, on Wednesday night Sofia deviated from what her co-hosts had to say and it seems that it was exactly what many fans had been craving.

As they tasted Mimi's dish - a Blueberry and Bacon Cobbler with a side of Pepper Ice Cream - the judges rhapsodised about its merits, with only Sofia saying that she wasn't a fan.

"She said she wanted to toe the line between sweet and savoury," Sofia said. "And she absolutely has done that with that powerful pepper ice cream to the point where, even though this is definitely a dessert, it doesn't taste like one for me.

And, while the texture of the ice cream is incredible and it's such an interesting ingredient to put into ice cream, it does not go with a blueberry cobbler, I think. It feels so spiced and so savoury that it's detracting from everything else for me."

"Oooh, Sofia dissenting from the other judges. I do wish we saw more of that. The last iteration of judges either all liked a dish or all disliked it," someone responded on Reddit.

"I love that we’re getting disagreements among judges again.. I also know that Mimi is safe anyways so it’s all good," added someone else.

"Mimi will win the prize, despite Sofia's comment," another wrote. "But honestly I really appreciate that Sofia (one judge) had a different opinion than others for once! Coz we always see them only agreeing to each other's opinions (good or bad), and it felt somewhat fixed at some moments."

"Ooo differing opinions from judges 👀," another viewer said while someone else noted that, "Sofia is taking no prisoners tonight."

"I'm here for it," one person replied while a different fan said, "I actually like it, getting different perspectives and opinions"

"We need to see more of the judges disagreeing on dishes!" yet another viewer agreed.

On X, there was a fan who echoed the Redditor's thoughts, writing, "I commented to someone already but I appreciate how Sofia's disagreeing other judges actually love that she doesn't agree with judges like they always do. It made the tasting feel more real rather than all judges kinda forcely [sic] agreeing every time."

However, not everyone was as enamoured with Sofia and her difference of opinion, with some suggesting that she had seemed "off" all episode.

"What is it with Sofia today?" one person asked on X.

"Is something amiss between Poh and Sofia?" another viewer asked while another said, "I can see Poh is annoyed at Sofia."

"Sofia is looking very sour tonight," said a different person.
