Jessica Simpson And Husband Eric Johnson Call It Quits After 10 Years Of Marriage
Jessica Simpson and her husband, Eric Johnson, are parting ways after 10 years of marriage.
“Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” Simpson said in a statement to multipleoutlets on Monday. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them.”
Simpson continued, “We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”
Simpson, 44, and the former NFL player, 45, tied the knot in July 2014. The pair share three young children: daughter Maxwell Drew, son Ace Knute and daughter Birdie Mae.
The breakup was first reported by People. The news comes after the outlet previously reported last November that Johnson was spotted walking around Los Angeles, California, without his wedding band.
That same month, fans began speculating over the condition of their relationship after Simpson shared a cryptic post onInstagram, writing that her “comeback” would be personal after “putting up with everything I did not deserve.”
Amid the gossip, Simpson’s younger sister, Ashlee Simpson, gave a one-word answer recently after being asked by TMZ if the “Dukes of Hazzard” star’s marriage to Johnson was in a turbulent state.
“Ashlee, fans are speculating that Jessica might be looking to get a divorce from her recent Instagram post,” reporters asked the “Boyfriend” singer, 40, in a clip shared by the outlet. “Do you know anything about it? Is it true? Do you know?”
“No,” she bluntly responded in the clip posted Nov. 14.
However, it’s unclear which question the songwriter was answering.
In August 2023, Simpson gushed about her marriage to Johnson following their ninth anniversary, calling it “so easy.”
“It’s nuts. It’s kind of crazy. I feel like Eric and I have been together so much longer,” she told People at the time. “We have been together for a long time, but it feels like 20 [years]. My life before him, I had a blast.”
Simpson added, “But once I met Eric, I feel like it was more nurtured. Everything was more supported. Everything felt so easy.”
