Marcia Hines rushed to hospital after collapsing in Australian Idol dressing room

The singer updated fans saying she was "very sorry" to miss the first night of the Australian Idol finale.

Marcia Hines was rushed to hospital on Sunday after collapsing in her dressing room ahead of the Australian Idol grand final.

The 70-year-old singer and Australian Idol judge reportedly collapsed in the dressing room at the Sydney Coliseum Theatre in Rooty Hill on Sunday afternoon, with a source telling the Daily Telegraph that "Marcia had a medical emergency and was rushed to hospital".

Guy Sebastian filled in as a judge, with the star having previously won the first season of the show in 2003.

Marcia was taken away by ambulance and is now in a stable condition, with the star taking to Instagram to update her fans.

"I’m very sorry that I’m not there with you all tonight," she said. "It’s been a big few days of work and I was feeling a little unwell. I’m resting up now so I can be back with you all tomorrow night."

Australian Idol host Ricki-Lee Coulter announced Marcia wouldn't be on the show, telling the audience, "You will have spotted that we are missing someone very important and very special to the Idol family."

"Unfortunately Marcia is unwell and unable to join us tonight," she added.

Kyle Sandilands, who is also a judge on the show, then clarified that Marcia hadn't just called in sick, saying, "Sorry, sorry. That's a real downplay. She was taken out of here in an ambulance."

He added, "Just so that everyone knows. She’s fine. She’s well. But she didn’t just ring up with a headache. She went down."

Marcia has Type-1 diabetes, however, it's unclear if her hospital visit was related.

Fans send well wishes to Marcia

Fans took to social media to share well wishes for Marcia, with one user writing, "Hope you’re ok Marcia! I was so excited to see you perform tonight! I absolutely love you! Get well soon!"

"I am happy to see Guy Sebastian 👍 but I miss Marcia, I hope she gets better soon, love and best wishes Marcia," another said.

The Australian Idol finale will take place over two nights with the show continuing on Monday night.
