MAFS' Lucinda Light shares heartbreaking post about life before the show: 'Incredibly stressful'
"I was officially broke for the first time in my adult life."
In a heartbreaking post, this year's breakout MAFS star Lucinda Light revealed that she was "officially broke" before appearing on the show.
Taking to Instagram, Lucinda shared a post to shout out some of her friends who helped her during a very difficult time.
'I was officially broke'
"Last year, I was officially broke for the first time in my adult life & had to borrow money which didn’t feel good," she began the lengthy post. "It was incredibly stressful & getting ready for MAFS pushed me to my limit.

MAFS EXCLUSIVE: How Lucinda Light is set to make $250,000 in 10 days
"There were many reasons for this: living in expensive Byron, dealing with Covid restrictions as an events person, managing the aftermath and health demands of a breakdown, the Northern Rivers floods, & preparing for MAFS. I had to dig deep, sell my beloved VW van & ask friends/designers for help."
She added, "A massive shout-out to the talented friends & designers who helped enhance my wardrobe with fabulous pieces. I’m so grateful for each of you!"
Lucinda then individually thanked several friends and designers who helped her during her time of need.
"I love you all!" she said. "Your generous hearts helped me get organised for the show. Your flair and fabulousness made all the difference. So much love and gratitude to creators, small business owners, & the kind-hearted souls among us. Wishing each of you a huge amount of success! Thank you 🙏."
'I'm shocked'
Lucinda's followers were quick to comment on the post, with one user writing, "I'm shocked MAFS didn't supply wardrobe for you. Maybe they're feeling the 'hard times' pinch too 😂. Either way, love the shoutout you're giving to these amazing businesses."
"Gorgeous woman I can’t believe there was no financial support for clothing during the show, how about your wedding dress did they at least give you something $ to go towards your wedding dress?" another asked.
Lucinda responded, "We received $150 per day and $2k toward our wedding dresses. We were really looked after by the production company, they were fantastic."
"You were a delight to watch and you have elevated the MAFS brand ❤️," a third said.
"Wow. How do people afford all this stuff? Botox and extensions and skimpy dresses. If I was on MAFS they'd think I was homeless with my current wardrobe contents," someone else joked.
Lucinda's fellow MAFS star Ash Galati also commented, "Lou you deserve all the abundance in the world. Thank you for sharing."
Lucinda's $250,000 payday
While things were tough before the show, since coming out the other side, Lucinda stands to make a lot of money.

It is understood the fan favourite's upcoming speaking tour in the UK in August will generate $250,000 in ticket sales alone. Lucinda announced last week that her “An evening with Lucinda Light” show will visit eight cities across the UK in 10 days, with 4,500 total tickets on sale at £27.50 GBP ($52AUD) each.
If Lucinda sells out all shows, this will generate just under $250,000 in ticket sales and doesn't include meet and greet ticket upgrades, VIP packages or merchandise sales, which could see her make even more money.
