MAFS Katie Johnston's surprising career change after disastrous marriage to Tim Gromie
EXCLUSIVE: Yahoo Lifestyle can reveal what the 37-year-old bride has been up to since filming wrapped.
Katie Johnston may not have found love on Married At First Sight following her disastrous romance with Tom Gromie, but she didn’t quite leave the experiment empty-handed. The mismatched pair both chose to leave the experiment on Sunday night after Tim declined to move into their Sydney accommodation with Katie and an explosive dinner party in which his co-stars lambasted him for how he treated his bride.
Yahoo Lifestyle can reveal that 37-year-old Katie has spent six months since filming wrapped creating a free online course to help other women recognise toxic traits in themselves and potential partners. The course is also designed to give them tools on how to build their self-esteem and confidence.
“Most people have no idea that Katie has a degree in behavioural science and a major in psychology, and she’s very passionate about using everything she’s been through and learned about herself to help other women,” a source connected to the reality show said.
What is Katie Johnston doing now?
Meanwhile, last week, Yahoo Lifestyle also revealed how since filming wrapped last year, the reality star has spent time working on herself and learning to love who she is. She now has a brand new lease on life, and Tim’s rejection is said to have been “the catalyst that pushed her to address her issues and learn where they come from”.

“I've gone on such a journey in my life. It’s taken me a long time to feel really good in my own skin, and I feel like this is just a good reinforcement of that,” she gushed in a video on-set of a photoshoot at Studio Republic, which the studio shared with Yahoo Lifestyle.
Unfortunately, the newly confident star is yet to find love but is still said to "be open to finding her perfect match" but for now is "focusing on herself".
What happened to Katie's business?
Since finding fame on MAFS, Katie’s business practices have hit the headlines after it was revealed that the “social enterprise” group of restaurants she’d mentioned on the show – which used its profits to help others who are doing it tough had collapsed.

According to reports, Wild The Lifestyle Co Pty Ltd - directed by Katie Johnston – was placed into liquidation on June 28, weeks before she filmed her TV wedding, and owed $493,927 when it collapsed, including $150,709 in unpaid superannuation.
“The repayment plan is in place and being maintained. Covid ruined a lot of businesses and continues to ruin people's lives as we struggle with cost of living and mass business closures,” Ms Johnston told The Sunshine Coast Daily.
