Caravan family's 'brilliant' $4 Kmart find for common cleaning concern: 'So easy, so good'
A little gadget from Kmart is being hailed as an easy way to combat a big problem on the road.
If you think keeping your bathroom clean at home is annoying, imagine doing it in a caravan where your space is about a third of the size. Bench space is limited, and every single item must be rigorously vetted to ensure it will get used because the smallest amount of clutter can feel overwhelming in a home on wheels.
Another issue the confined spaces of caravans pose is that excess moisture from the bathroom can then lead to condensation, which, in turn, can result in mould growth, dampness, and damage to the caravan's interior. And there is no greater culprit of this than the shower - especially when airflow is limited and the space isn't properly wiped down after being used.
It's why one travelling family were so excited to stumble on a nifty Kmart item that retails for just $4, solves the issue of excess moisture in the shower and is small and compact at the same time.
"Came across this awesome mini mop for drying the walls after a shower. It was $4 from Kmart! Bloody bargain," April and Tim Oxlay captioned the video, which was shared to their @5bogansinabus Instagram account.

Demonstrating how easy the Mini Retractable Mop is to use, April easily wipes away the moisture from the shower wall before using the self-wringing feature to squeeze out the excess water.

Given how inexpensive the little gadget is, people were more than enthusiastic about the results.
"Consider me influenced!😀," one wrote on the video.
"What a nifty little gadget - definitely going to grab one of those," another said.
"Great for spillages, too," a third person added.
"Wow. That’s brilliant. Off to Kmart now!" and 'Thanks for sharing what a great little gadget" were some of the other remarks about the $4 find.
The Oxlay family are not the only ones loving the $4 mini mop, with Aussie woman Trina also singing its praises on TikTok and calling it her "favourite thing" she has ever bought from Kmart.
"I've got a bit of a mess on my benchtops and I'm going to show you how it works," Trina says. "There's the mess.... Anyway, I've just sweeped [sic] the mess into the sink. Now I'm just going to rinse it off.
"That's it. Ready for the next use. So easy, so good."
"I think I need this for my baby, she leaves a puddle under her high chair," one person replied to the video.
"Wait what??? Ooh I need this," another said.
"Omg I need this! Better than having to touch a sponge or wet paper towel," was another reply while someone else said it would be great for cleaning up new puppy accidents.
Alternatives to Kmart mini mop
There were sceptics, of course, as a few people questioned why the Oxlay family wouldn't just use a squeegee or chamois to get the job done.
"So then you can just drag the water in the wet sponge up and down the walls," one naysayer wrote. "You'd only get one wipe, and it would be saturated. Use a chamois if you're that worried."

Another person was more concerned that the $4 price tag wouldn't last long now that the secret of the mini mop is out in the world.
"Awesome hack, but once this goes viral, it will be $19.95 hehe," they quipped.
They could well be right, so, you know the saying - better run, not walk, to Kmart!
