MAFS' Jamie Marinos and Dave Thomas Hand have been the fan-favourite couple on the show since the start of the experiment, but the last two weeks have been disastrous for the pair. Now, Jamie tells Yahoo Lifestyle she doesn't think Dave was on the show "for the right reasons".

The couple's downfall kicked off after the couple's retreat, and after Jamie told Dave she loved him, telling him he didn't need to say it back. Things went catastrophically downhill, however, during Feedback Week when Jamie asked another groom, Adrian Araouzou, for advice on her relationship because she felt Dave wasn't initiating any form of intimacy. Adrian told her it must be because he was not physically attracted to her.

"He’s pretty much telling me I’m too ugly to root," Jamie told the cameras at the time. "This is a hard thought to ponder. But I appreciate him being honest."

Dave then crushed viewers' (and Jamie's) hearts by telling the producers, "I don't hate the girl," when asked about his feelings.

Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, Jamie responded to viewers saying Dave might not have stayed on the show for the right reasons, and, surprisingly, she agreed.

"At that moment in time, I don't believe he was there for the right reasons, because of what was shown to me," she tells us. "That's how I felt in that moment because I didn't understand how you could flip the script. And it just felt like to me, in that moment, his mask had fallen off and I was essentially just his meal ticket or something.

"I couldn't understand, because I was like, how do you go from warm, fuzzy feelings to, 'I don't hate the girl'," Jamie says referencing Dave's mean comment. "I felt like that was really hard to watch back as well, and seeing the full scope of what was going through his mind.

"I do understand that there's clearly avoidant attachment, but I was really surprised in that moment, and even re-watching it, just the complete change up, so, of course, I questioned his intentions."

Speaking about the moment Dave said, "I don't hate the girl," Jamie adds, "It was awful to watch back because this is someone I've professed love to in front of the world essentially, I've spoken so highly of, and you know, when I needed to be validated and reassured, he essentially let me down massively and humiliated me."

While Jamie had said in last week's episode that she was going to write 'leave', she surprised everyone when she wrote 'stay'.

Speaking of that moment, she tells Yahoo Lifestyle: "It's one of those things where obviously me and Dave had a very heated conversation in the morning, and what I saw from Dave was honestly just unacceptable behaviour, and it was a complete mistreatment of me."

The reality star adds: "But I really had to sit with my emotions and like, calm myself back down, and when I understood the fact that, like, I do have genuine feelings for this man, and I'm in an environment where people like Adrian and Awhina, Jacqui and Ryan, who've had quite turbulent relationships and have managed to turn things around.

"And I felt like I owed it to myself and my relationship to actually hear the experts' input before I threw in the towel."
