So Dramatic! reported earlier this month that the pair - whose partners Cameron Woods and Tayla Winter were involved in a ‘sexting’ scandal outside of the show - formed “an intimate relationship after Lyndall’s final vows exit”.
Now, Lyndall has confirmed to Yahoo Lifestyle that she and Hugo became close during the experiment but asserts there has never been any romance between them.
“There are some people in the cast that probably believe you can't be friends if you're of different genders, but nothing untoward has ever happened between Hugo and I,” she says.
“When we saw the rumours come out, I can't remember who called who but we had a really funny conversation on the phone where we were both like, ‘Oh well I'm not going to correct anyone, that’s hilarious’. I think people are going to believe whatever they want to believe anyway, that’s been my experience with all of these rumours. It doesn't really matter what I say, but that's about all it is.”
The 27-year-old accountant went on to explain that she and Hugo formed a bond in the experiment because they went through similar experiences with their partners.
“We were just put with someone who, for whatever reason at whatever time, decided they weren't going to try,” she says. “I think because of everything and the way that it unfolded, with Tayla as well, it kind of made room for Hugo and I to have this exchange of like, ‘What the hell is going on there?’ and we would talk about that.
“Hugo and I still talk, we send each other memes and funny tweets that we see about our episodes and check in on each other when we've had a hard time. He’s a great guy, but there's absolutely nothing there.”
Duncan and Evelyn's romance
Speaking about the rumours with Yahoo Lifestyle, Lyndall admits she’s unsure whether or not they're true.
“It’s hard because there are so many people in the world, does it really need to be someone from the show after all the things we went through?” she remarks.
“But also, if they're happy and they found that connection, that is what we all went on the show to do. So whether it's true or not, I just hope they’re both happy.”
