As the world mourns the tragic death of One Direction member Liam Payne at just 31 years old, more devastating information about his final days has come to light. The singer fell to his death from the third floor of a hotel room on Wednesday evening (October 16) in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Liam had documented his time in the South American country on Snapchat, sharing videos of him and his girlfriend Kate Cassidy. In one video he said he and his partner were “enjoying coffee and breakfast, even though it’s like 1pm” and, in another, sent his well wishes to the people in Florida affected by Hurricane Milton and said he was looking forward to returning home to see his dog Nala.

Other Snapchat videos revealed that the singer had spent time before his death donating money to various GoFundMe appeals, inspired by his young son Bear.

The father of one said in a video, "I've always felt lucky for the position I'm in. My life aspiration was to be a superhero but I can't fly, I'm not a great mechanic, I wasn't affected by radiation and I'm not incredibly strong.

"All I know is that there are websites out there to donate to sick children that need your help. It doesn't matter how small or how big the donation is, all that matters is you looking in that child's eyes."

The range of causes Liam donated to included children battling cancer and victims of school shootings, as he said these devastating situations deeply affected him as a dad.

"As a father, it hits me slightly differently because I look at them and if that was my child I'd want everyone in the world to look at me and help me. And so the last few nights I've been spending some time on GoFundMe, a fantastic website."

"I've been going on night by night to finish off people's donations to make sure they get the operations they need," he said.

Liam went on to explain that he simply couldn't look at a child suffering and not see his own son, saying it is "despicable" on 2024 that "these kids are having to pay for these medical things that would be free in my country."

"I can't not look at a sick child and not see Bear," he said. "I can't and I won't so when I see one I can help out with I'm there and I'm ready to go. And I'm not asking for people to go, 'oh you're an amazing person Liam, like well done' whatever. I don't give a f**k what people think about me, what I care about is that that child gets to live the life it's supposed to. That's it, that's the whole thing."

Liam also urged his fans to make their own donations if they could.

Liam rose to fame through the boy band One Direction after the group was formed on The X-Factor UK in 2010, and was comprised of himself, Niall, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik.

The band went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016 and Liam subsequently established a solo career releasing two EPS and one studio album, ‘LP1’.

“The day the band ended, I was like, ‘Thank the Lord’,” he told The Diary Of A CEO podcast in 2022. “I know a lot of people are going to be mad at me for saying that, but I needed to stop or it would kill me.”

He and his former partner, singer Cheryl Cole, welcomed Bear in 2017. He began dating his girlfriend, influencer Kate Cassidy, in October 2022.

It's been revealed that Liam died from multiple injuries sustained in the fall, which led to "internal and external haemorrhaging", and a fractured skull.

"According to the emergency medical team sent to the scene he had a fracture in the base of his skull, extremely serious injuries," Alberto Crescenti said, saying that Liam was dead when paramedics arrived on scene.

"Our role was to head there quickly, give medical attention, and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life."

Police have not yet released further conclusive evidence regarding the circumstances of Liam's fall, and tests are now taking place to see if the singer had consumed drugs and alcohol. Police have said they found Liam's room in 'complete disarray', with prosecutors saying on Thursday that they were treating the case as a "suspicious death" due to evidence collected on the scene that indicated Liam was going through "some kind of substance abuse outbreak" at the time of his death.

The Argentine public prosecutor's office on Thursday said: "Everything indicates that the musician was alone" when the fall occurred.
