Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Confront Ryan Reynolds About Blake Lively Drama at SNL50

In a joke Q&A segment during the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary special, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler asked guest Ryan Reynolds, “Reynolds, how’s it going?”

“Great,” Reynolds said, before asking in a self-conscious voice, “Why, what have you heard?”

The joke got a lot of laughter and some applause from the audience; it was a reference to the heated ongoing legal battle between Reynolds' wife, Blake Lively, who smiled awkwardly beside her husband, and her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni.

Reynolds did not elaborate further on the topic, but he did ask Fey and Poehler if he should go to the hospital after eating some of the old Conehead props backstage. (Poehler told Reynolds to “go to the hospital right away.”)

Later in the segment, Fey and Poehler took a timely question from one-time host/recurring guest Peyton Manning.

“Is Lorne [Michaels] going to retire now?” he asked, in reference to the years of speculation over who would take the SNL showrunner’s place when he steps down from the series.

When Fey and Poehler answered no, Manning elaborated, “That’s great news. Lorne, never retire! It’s brutal out here.”

The former NFL star complained about all the commercials he’s been doing lately, concluding, “I hate being retired... Seriously Lorne, getting old sucks. I feel like such a loser. [Zach] Galifianakis knows what I’m talking about.”

Galifianakis, also in the audience, yelled back, “Please stop bothering me, I just want to relax and watch Kanye perform!”

Another question from the audience came from Jon Hamm, who insecurely asked Fey and Poehler, “Am I funny?”

Fey and Poehler assured the Mad Men star that he was, but their hearts clearly weren’t in it.

Soon after, musician Bad Bunny asked them in Spanish if they thought he was funny. Poehler assured Bad Bunny in Spanish that he was, unlike poor Hamm.

Perhaps the most risqué joke of the sketch came from former cast member Fred Armisen, who complained about a sketch of his that got cut in 2005.

When Fey and Poehler assured him that he could resubmit the sketch, Armisen replied, “Great! Next time Spacey hosts!”
