Kmart shoppers praise $25 caravan storage solution: 'Super easy'

While there are plenty of perks of travelling in a caravan, including flexibility, low travel cost and a minimalist lifestyle, one of the biggest drawbacks is the lack of available storage. In addition to finding an appropriate spot for your clothes, toiletries and miscellaneous gadgets, it can be nearly impossible to store all of your required pantry items and kitchen utensils in the camper’s often limited space.

One social media user has managed to solve this common problem thanks to a $25 product from Kmart, which others have labelled a “game-changer”. Taking to a popular Facebook group, the woman shared that she had purchased two chrome pull-out drawers from the retail store.

The sliding organiser is ideal for organising everyday kitchen essentials and rolls out smoothly even when fully loaded. It can be easily assembled and installed to the base of cabinets, with hardware and instructions included.

“Slideout shelves installed. Thanks hubby. Perfect fit,” the woman shared alongside photos of her two drawers in action.

Shoppers praise 'cheap and super easy solution'

The post was quickly flooded with comments from other caravan owners praising the “brilliant” hack, with one person writing: “Can never have too much storage space.”

“Awesome idea. Thanks for sharing,” another added, while a third said, “One would be perfect in my low cupboards”.

“We put one under our oven for the pots and pans. So much easier than getting down on the floor to reach the things that have fallen to the back of the cupboard!” someone else shared.

“We fitted one under our cutlery drawer in our 18’8 Cruiser and it was also a perfect fit! Only one drawer in our kitchen (I don't count the mini one under the sink) so this was a cheap and super easy solution,” a different user replied.

“I see a potential space for chopping boards or utensils under the slide out,” another pointed out, followed by someone who said, “I have one of these in my van and love it. Just a pity they don’t do a range of sizes”.

The pull-out sliding drawer organiser is 10.5cm high, 35.5cm wide and 45.5cm deep, so be sure to measure your space before purchasing.

In addition to installing the drawers in your caravan, content creators on TikTok have posted videos showcasing the various places they’ve installed the product in their homes.

Interior styling guru Dina (@dina.sweethome.style_) shared three different ways she’s used the item, which has a 4.9-star review on Kmart’s website.

Firstly, she installed the base of the drawer onto a shelf and connected it to her laundry basket so it could easily roll out. She also installed the drawer in her pantry and her kitchen cupboard to effortlessly access her dinnerware.

“Omg mind blown!” one fan commented, while another said, “Wow great ideas”.

Home decor and organisation vlogger Hayley (@houseofhumanities) also shared a video using the item to upgrade her container storage cupboard.
