Kate Beckinsale Favors Volume in Structural Stéphane Rolland Gown at 2025 Costume Designers Guild Awards

Kate Beckinsale joined a bevy of A-list guests and high-profile attendees at the Costume Designers Guild Awards on Thursday in Los Angeles. John Waters, Janelle Monáe, Quinta Brunson and more attended the red carpet event, honoring the best 2024 costuming for film and TV.

For the occasion, Kate Beckinsale styled a look courtesy of Stéphane Rolland’s fall 2024 couture collection. The voluminous gown featured an asymmetric neckline and cutout at the torso. Black fabric was structured to give the gown a sculptural look on one shoulder.

At the hips, glittering embellishments were added for an extra touch of sparkle. The dress made its runway debut as part of Rolland’s fall 2024 couture collection during Paris Fashion Week in June 2024.

“This show is a tribute to Paris,” Rolland said of the collection, per Jennifer Weil’s WWD review. “I started with the poetry of Jacques Prévert and the photos of the famous French photographer Brassaï,” Rolland said. “I translated their work, their art, their sensibility into the collection.”

Beckinsale is no stranger to making a statement on the red carpet. In October 2024, the “Underworld” actress wholly embraced the ballet core trend, taking the style to the next level at Variety’s Power of Women event.

The actress wore a pink Christian Siriano minidress from the designer’s spring 2024 collection. The strapless dress featured a satin corset bodice with visible lacing. The skirt of the ensemble featured a theatrical, puffball-style design, which added volume to the sides and back while the front was left open.

The CDGAs honor the best costume designs in film and TV during the year. Jonathan Anderson, the creative director of Loewe, is among this year’s nominees for Excellence in Contemporary Film for his work on the Luca Guadagnino film “Challengers.” Janelle Monáe will also receive the second Vanguard Spotlight Honor at the 2025 ceremony.
