Yahoo Lifestyle Jelly Roll Attributes New Personal Victory to Weight Loss: ‘No Way That Would Have Been Possible’
Jelly Roll said his health and fitness journey is to thank for his recent ability to score a new personal victory.
The “Need a Favor” singer, who earlier this month announced that he will soon be taking on an exciting role at American Idol, opened up about his weight loss transformation during a recent conversation with E! News.
As the 40-year-old rapper-turned-country star explained in an interview conducted on Friday, Feb. 7, at a party in New Orleans, La., ahead of the 2025 Super Bowl, “I hiked a mountain the other day.” He identified the hike as taking place at Camelback, a mountain in Arizona’s Phoenix Valley that has an elevation of 2,704 feet.
“There is no way that would have been possible beforehand,” the “Son of a Sinner” singer said of his hiking experience, adding that it is "great to see that progress and we still are going.”
The proud father of two revealed last fall that he had lost 100 pounds, thus reaching a major health milestone. He has been documenting his weight loss journey for years after that, three years earlier, his weight exceeded 500 pounds.
As Jelly Roll indicated while speaking with E! News, he is continuing to set new goals as part of his weight loss journey. Back in December 2024, he shared one ambitious goal with wife Bunnie XO during an appearance on her Dumb Blonde podcast.
“I want to be on the cover of Men’s Health by March of 2026,” he said. “That’s my new goal. I want to have one of the biggest transformations.”
The country crooner went on to explain that he has been publicly sharing his experience so that he can “be honest about my struggles with it with people” and “bring people along with me.”
“What I want the world to know, and I want the people to see, Bunnie, is that, I didn’t become successful because of my weight,” he said. “I became successful in spite of it.”
