This look deserves an award all of its own.

After being postponed due to the Los Angeles wildfires, the 2025 Critics Choice Awards are finally here. And amongst the glamorous red carpet arrivals is Angelina Jolie who attended the award show in her signature understated style. The actress—who is up for Best Actress for her role as late opera singer Maria Callas in the biopic Maria—hit the carpet in a look that elevated the naked dress trend.
Wearing a nude floor-length gown with sheer lace overlay, Jolie managed to embrace the sexiness of the naked trend without being overt. The dress featured flowing short sleeves, a spliced neckline, and a small train that trailed behind her and she accessorized minimally, adding just a pair of diamond drop earrings. Infusing a pop of color to the look, Jolie swiped on a bold red lip that matched her cherry-colored manicure.

It's been seven years since fans last saw Jolie at the Critics Choice Awards—however, it's almost as if no time passed at all, at least on the fashion front. Back in 2018, she maintained her minimalist style in a white custom-made Ralph & Russo couture gown with a feathered bodice and an asymmetric skirt. A pair of velvet gray pumps and bold red lip rounded out her look.

Jolie previously opened up about her hiatus from Hollywood in a December 2024 interview with Vanity Fair. After revealing that she went "very dark" for reasons she'd rather not explain, the mom of six said that her new film Maria "was the beginning" of her "starting to come alive again."
"I wasn't myself for a while, so I wasn't able to give as much to my work for a few years," the actress explained. "To feel like I could work again and communicate and to be with nice people—so much of what I do is collaboration with other artists. When it goes well, you’re creating together. When you’re with nice people and creative people, you learn so much about yourself and about life. You’re in a safe place to play and stretch."
